      Comments about Tug-a-Jug:

My dog is an 11 year old papillion. He got the hang of it right away. I only let him play with it for about 15-20 minutes a day. He would empty the bottle if I let him. We keep the jug in a closet in my office. In the afternoon he comes in and sits by the closet door and cries until I get it down for him. He does his thing to get the treats out and then he's done until the next day.

So far our beagle has monopolized the bottle. We put her kibble in there for dinner and it has slowed her gulping and not chewing as she just gets a few out at a time. I think this is better for her teeth. She has gotten very proficient at emptying the thing and it occupies her FULL attention. Very amusing to watch. Good product for separation anxiety dogs.

It is hard to rate the toy because neither of our dogs will go anywhere near it. We'll keep trying.

My pup was totally not interested in this. I tried filling it with various tasty treats. No go. Our daughter's dog visited and he was not interested in it either. I've tried enticing them, showing them the treats that come out. They just aren't excited at all about playing with this. It just lays on the floor and collects dust.

The photo shows a small papillon style dog playing with the toy. I have a mature male papillon (10 lbs) and this toy is too large for him. In addition, the toy is a hard plastic and could damage flooring and furniture. I gave it to a friend who has a 22lb schnauzer.

I bought 3 of these at Christmastime for gifts - 1 for my dogs, 1 for my mom's and 1 for my in-law's. All the dogs loved it and learned to use it very quickly. I was surprised, however, as to the size and weight (when filled), and how hard the plastic bottle is! Very dangerous if swung by a large dog or a very exuberant dog! Keep it away from your china cabinets, and make sure you watch your dog while playing with it. If it gets wedged under a piece of furniture, they will dig a hole in the floor trying to free it and get that treat! Otherwise, a very fun toy for both dog and owner. Keeps dogs very interested and busy for a LONG TIME!

                    Comments about Tug-a-Jug:

I have a mature rescue Cocker who doesn't seem to know how to play so I bought a few treat oriented toys (he LOVES treats) to encourage play until he enjoyed playing just to play (or perhaps he just isn't interested). This is my biggest disappointment. The wedge on the inside of the bottle is much too big unless I pick out the tiniest of his kibble to put in it (Even my cats' food is too large for the size of the wedge plus cat food is BAD for dogs.) He enjoys other treat toys and will invest a fair amount of effort to get the treats out. This one was just too difficult for him and for him to give up on getting a treat is saying something. Taking the "rope" and wedge out allowed him to get the treats in 30 seconds so that way there is no challenge or play either. We will try again later or give it to another more persistant dog friend. The best thing I can say is that it is attractive and easy to clean.

We have tried this with a small dog, not interesting and too difficult for them to get treats out. Even tried with a large dog who loves treat toys, all he did was try to chew the treats out. A big boo for this toy. A BIG waste of money.

I got this product for my high energy, smart, inquisitive 6 month old dalmatian. When I realized it was for dogs under 40lb I gave it to my daughter for her King Charles Cavalier Spaniel who never was able to figure out how it worked. He just sat and stared at it until she would pull a treat out.
