Comments about Pruning Stik Tree Pruner:
I liked this prunner as long as I was cutting smaller branches. The problem I have with it is a lack of arm muscle on my part. It takes quite a bit of arm strength to get it to cut the larger branches. I have to resort to pushing the end of the pole into my stomach trying to get my body strength envolved to help cut the larger branches of which I still could not cut the larger ones, ha. I usually walked away with bruises on my body. I had to buy a very expensive pole pruner that was compound as well as ratching. Even a wimpy kid could cut with my new fancy one but it cost me a pretty penny. I gave this one away to my younger stronger neighbors. This pruner works only if you are strong enough. I possibly could have used this back in my 40's when I was younger and stronger.

Comments about Pruning Stik Tree Pruner:
We use a long-handled cutter to get suckers off old, tall fruit trees. This pruner will reach 50% of branches standing on ground or a small stool, but we revert to old string-based pruner with about 5 ft more reach for higher suckers.

Comments about Pruning Stik Tree Pruner:
I have a Chinese Elm that I can't kill. The nursery suggested I 'starve' it by cutting all green shoots as they come out on the stump. It has grown back from a stump 5 times in 10 years! The ease of using this cutter from my scooter means I can do this cutting on my own. I cut all low hanging branches on my shrubs and trees also. My neighbor has thorny vines on our shared fence and I can trim them easy with this.
I do all my veggie and herb gardening in raised beds, from my Rascal scooter.

Comments about Pruning Stik Tree Pruner:
This is a great tool. I have used it primarily for pruning and "limbing up" trees and large shrubs. It operates very smoothly and makes nice clean cuts. It is light enough to use while up on a ladder. When cutting larger branches you do need to maintain a tight grip to prevent the pole from twisting, causing the blades to overlap and jam, but that's not really a design flaw, just something to be aware of. This tool should really be though of as loppers with a long reach...you will still need a saw for larger branches.

Pruning is a perfect chore for late-winter and early spring because most trees and shrubs are dormant. What's more, it's the time of year when there are few gardening tasks on your list.
