This unique design makes tomato planting easy. It protects the plant and incorporates good planting design using the red color and the watering basins. The really neat part is putting my tall ladder plant supports right in the halo which makes the halo sturdier. I have used other halos but they were hard to use with my tomato ladders. They also look great out in the garden. Results of this method are still pending so we will see.

Best Uses
This was my first time using "halos" around my tomatoes. They solve several problems in Florida gardening. I bought them to discourage cutworms and to help get water to the roots of the plants. We've had a terribly dry spring so far this year. I fill the halos with water every other day, put a teaspoon of fish emulsion in each halo every couple of weeks, and let gravity deliver the water and fertilizer to the roots. People are constantly telling me how pretty my plot looks, as well as healthy. Next year, I have to remember to fill the center area with soil. I bought the halos after my plants were already 12in tall, so had to thread the stems gently up through the center, and it was too difficult to add soil after the fact. So I expect the halos to be even more effective next year!!

- Useful For Other Plants
First time using these, but so far very handy. The size was right for transplanting very young and not so young plants, but could be too small for late transplants. I look forward to seeing whether they help keep tomato plants watered.

I have only used these for about two weeks. Easy to use and hold a good amount of water. They give good support for small plants in the wind. I bought the red ones and they look super in my garden! I love the color and the structure is very sturdy. The only reason I gave this item a 4 star rating is because I bought two sets and one came without any damage. The other had one of the three halos cracked and broken. It was damaged on the plastic points on the bottom where the water comes out of the holes. Customer service was excellent to work with! They shipped me a new set of halos right away. When that set came, once again, one of the halos had one of it's points on the bottom smashed and broken. I didn't call them since only one was broken of the three. I think that those halos should be packed with some kind of packing on top of those plastic points so they don't get smashed and broken in shipping. Other wise Gardeners has a great product and their employee/owners are GREAT to work with. Thanks Gardeners I will be back for more of your products.
