Super-Sturdy Tomato Cages Support Heavy Yields

  • Extra-strong tomato cages keep tomato plants upright for a bigger, cleaner harvest
  • Big, 8" square openings make harvesting easy
  • Hinged panels fold flat for compact storage
  • Choice of Red, Green or Steel Gray

Longtime customer favorites, our heavy-duty, galvanized steel tomato cages are taller, wider and stronger than old-fashioned cone-shaped supports. And unlike flimsier versions, these are strong enough to support full-grown vines loaded with tomatoes. The tomato cages support plants on all sides (no tying needed) and keep plants up off the ground for better air circulation, cleaner fruit and fewer diseases. Large openings make harvesting easy, and the cages fold flat for off-season storage. In windy locations, we recommend anchoring with our Extra-Tall Earth Staples, sold separately.

  • Steel Gray is galvanized steel; Red and Green are powder-coated steel
  • 14-3/8" square x 39" H including 7" legs; 32" H installed
  • 8" square openings
  • 10 gauge wire
  • Cages fold for easy off-season storage
  • Gardener's Supply Exclusive

Pros

  • Sturdy Roomy Store Easy

Cons

  • Metal Hinges Snag Arms

Best Uses

When reaching inside the cage to adjust our tomato plants or pick tomatoes, we had to be very careful not to snag our forearms on the little metal rods that stick downward on the hinges - especially when the plants grew larger. So we got a slightly smaller inside diameter clear plastic hose, cut it into half-inch lengths and slide it over the metal rod ends. No more scratched arms.

    Tomato cages

These cages work if you are also a dahlia grower. The plants are happy, as are the tomatoes, in their little upright cages. And it keeps the critters away because the plants really do grow up!

I've had my cages for at least 10 years and they still look brand new, and work perfectly for my tomatoes. Couldn't ask for a better product.

Used these in a raised garden. Great support for the tomato plants. Used one on a grape tomato, one on a beefsteak tomato and the other two on patio tomatoes. All of the plants stayed tall and straight.

I bought four of these two year ago, and liked them so much I got four more this year. They weather well. I can't tell the difference between my old cages and new cages. They are spacious, durable and strong, and really help produce nice fruit.

I bought these over the winter for use this summer. I had harvested all the tomatoes and cut away all the vines from the cages so that I could store the cages for the winter. I was surprised and a bit disappointed to see that the spot welds had given way on many of the supports. I was able to wire the parts together so I hope I can get another year or two from these supports or I may just go back to hog wire and wooden frames.

For my small square foot-gardening beds, these are too large as they are greater than 12 inches. It probably lists the size and I did not pay attention. I kept them and will use them flat for peas and beans to climb up. I am sure these would work quite well if you had a normal sized garden!
