Wonderful trellis

By Tala

from Seattle, WA

Verified Buyer

Pros

  • Durable
  • Easy to setup

Cons

    Best Uses

    • Peas

Initially I found it difficult to separate sections so the trellis would fit in my raised bed. However once I separated the first one at the right length, it was easy to do the rest. I placed the trellis in a zig zag pattern so it was self supporting. In no time at all, my peas were scrambling up the trellis. Two weeks later and they are at the top of the trellis and producing pods.

For climbing peas. It's sturdy and I think it is going to work out fine, doesn't take up a lot of space. It was very challenging to put together.

    Cons

    • Somewhat flimsy

    • Pole beans

This is a 2-piece product- bottom and top. Came with 2 thin supports - instructions correctly state that it definitely needs more. Rather difficult to assemble - better instructions would have helped. The sections are long and I tried assembling them 2 different ways; tricky either way I tried it. Now that they are together I will definitely be leaving them together.

        Hard to assemble

        Best Uses

        • Pea Support

This support is designed in pieces so you can take it apart easily. The problem is that it is TOO easy to disassemble - it falls apart constantly while you are trying to put it up. This is especially difficult if you don't have someone else to help hold it together while you put it in place. I finally used pliers to bend some of the wire hooks that connect the pieces, so as to make them stay together. That helped, but I will have to unbend them to take it apart in the fall. I would not buy this product again.

        A bear to set up

          Cons

            Best Uses

The idea behind this product is really good, but it was extremely difficult for one person to install. In a test garden, with two or three people and perfect soil it would probably assemble without issue. I found it difficult to keep two parts connected while I inserted the others. I tried it with the sections both lying down and standing upright. I finally had to tie them together and managed to trample a number of plants in the process.

                    • Stakes Too Short

                    Best Uses

I haven't even tried to add the extensions up top yet. I want trellising that is going to go in and do its job on its own, without fussing with connectors or adding stakes. I would recommend it with significant reservations.

The pea fencing has extra height, which makes it
better for aggressive growers. It is flexible, in
that you can configure it many ways for many different uses.
