Our Vermont-made SunLite® Gardens employ the latest in lighting technology to give your plants the ideal quality and intensity of light for optimum growth. You can start plants from seed, grow herbs, houseplants, and even orchids. The new, ultra-light fixture weighs just 6 pounds and has a slimmer profile to give plants more headroom. It measures a full 14" wide to ensure even light coverage across the shelf. Inside, there are two T-5 bulbs that produce an abundance of brilliant, full-spectrum light. These bulbs use 45% less energy than standard fluorescent bulbs and provide up to 10,000 hours of use The fixture has pull chains for easy height adjustment and an electronic ballast to eliminate any annoying buzzing. This complete SunLite Garden includes frame and fixture, T-5 bulbs, and watertight tray.

I haven't used it yet, but I like that it's easy to adjust the height of the lights and that the whole thing is lightweight and seems to be well constructed (it's not bomber, because it's aluminum - but seems to be fairly solid). I have another grow light that I hang under a table and I will put this on top of the table to increase my ability to start a lot of seedlings inside (I live in a cold climate).
The instructions could have been more detailed. It should say that the larger screw hole in the short sides of the base, faces down (towards the floor) and that the first rings that you attach to the chain are the large ones, and that you need to attach the electric cord to the light balasts BEFORE you clip them into the hood, because they have to be facing the correct direction in order to attach the short cord between the two lights. And when you put the chain into the hole in the upright it can go down the hollow tube and get a little stuck (I had to wiggle and yank to get it back out) so it works better to tip the whole unit on end when inserting each chain.

We had many plants clustered ard one gro-bulb lamp. After reading the reviews for this product, we decided to try it. Once set up, the countertop was tidier. It does take a little adjustment to see a large tabletop setup in the kitchen, but certainly worth the effort to assemble & consolidation of plants under the 2 bulbs. The orchids, Norfolk pine, bromeliads, white ginger, aloe are growing much better, sprouting new shoots since we purchased this a few weeks ago. The bulbs are never hot to the touch which was a concern. Just have to figure out how to move the plants to fit the garden seedlings in. Overall, good product tho recommend rewriting the directions to be more detailed.

Amaryllis are thriving and blooming. Will start seeds beginning in mid March and expect stockier, healthier plants to set out in May than I got previously without the Sunlite garden. It is an attractive, no-nonsense design that is very sturdy. I look forward to many years of bringing sunshine inside to my plants.

I use this product to start vegetable seedlings for my garden. It is absolutely great. The lights are very energy efficient and the reflective material in the light overhang does a great job of distributing the light throughout the whole area underneath. This is very important because all of the seedlings receive about the same amount of light. I have a 36' x 24' garden outside and this setup is big enough for all of the vegetables I need to start indoors (tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, basil). I live in the South, so I don't need to start cucumbers, pumpkins, etc. indoors. If I did, I would get another one. I like the tray a lot, too. It's very durable and the perfect size.
I did a lot of research before buying this, and I really feel that this is the best product out there for the price.

I love this product so much that I ordered the companion floor model which has been very problematic (a design flaw: There is no beam length wise across the center of it to support the table top portion (my first purchase) which is designed to sit atop the floor model; consequently, the top poly tray sags down the middle with the weight of water and pots. We had to fashion "bed slats" across the top to support the tray's weight. (We have had almost perfect customer support in the matter of the floor model, however.)
I've had wonderful success with almost all of my 80 some propagation efforts with the table top model, both with seedlings and cuttings. It's a dream. The trick is to be sure you have a level floor and table.
