The new, ultra-light fixtures weigh just 6 lbs and have a slimmer profile to give plants more headroom. They measure a full 14" wide to ensure even light coverage across each shelf. Inside, there are two T-5 bulbs that produce an abundance of brilliant, full-spectrum light. These bulbs use 45% less energy than standard fluorescent bulbs and provide up to 10,000 hours of use. All fixtures have their own pull-chains for easy height adjustments and electronic ballasts to eliminate any annoying buzzing.

Easy to assemble, works great. I really like how adjustable the lights are, you can move them up or down as little as a quarter of an inch. So you can keep the lights right next to the leaves for rapid, healthy growth. Works 10 times better for starting vegetables than the old home made system i used to use.

The construction instructions need clarifying. I found myself installing the vertical bars upside down. After I found the problem (it was readily apparent when I starting installing the first A3 bar.)and fixed it, the construction went very smoothly.
I added a power strip at the end with the AC plugs. I think the addition of a power strip would be very beneficial. It would facilitate turning on the lights.
The materials and engineering are very good. I look forward to using it next December/January time frame when I start my 2014 garden.

This stand provides all the things you need to start seeds. The lights are easy to adjust. The construction is good. The only complaint I have is that it is very difficult to assemble--each part has multiple ways it can be attached, but only one way is correct. I'm pretty good at reading and following directions, but I had to re-do things several times. Need better labeling of parts and instructions. Fortunately, you only have to assemble it once!

We use it to start herbs and vegys for our garden. It is the best we've had (and we had a previous model for over 20 years. Much easier to adjust lights. Attractive.
BUT, the directions were not clear and their are a couple places where parts can go together in different ways and it wasn't clear to us what had happened until we got stuck...after spending 2 or more hours at it. Fortunately, Gardeners Supply had someone who could talk with us on the phone and knew the assembly problem. WIth her help we were fine (but we had to reassemble much of it again). Wish the directions were clearer!

Great for getting both beginning & advanced gardeneres hooked on to successfully germintating veggie seeds, and using the cart for transplants while waiting for the weather to improve to transplant outside in the food bank garden. The germination trays allow for 5 per tier. We have 5 of the three tier grow carts. The combination allows for large production of starts.Gives new students to gardening a sense of confidence and accomplishment.Excellent products!

MUST use a twist tie to get chain through the plastic channel, which has a hole in the bottom. Needs a better system to arrange metal columns. Metal screws go into dimpled metal side first.
Too soon to know whether I would recommend this product.

I absolutely the 3-tier sunlite garden. I appreciate all the previous reviews as I able to use that info to avoid some of the assembly pitfalls. However, no matter how careful we were, we still got the side bars "backwards" in regard to which side was "inside" and which was "out". They do a good job in identifying which is the top vs. bottom, but not the inside vs. outside. So if you buy one, there are four holes at the bottom of the side bar. One hole is larger than the other three--that hole goes to the outside.
Other than that, I absolutely love the product. I have always started my tomatoes from seeds, and these look the heathiest I have ever had. I would definitely buy another one. My only wish is that I had actually gotten the smaller unit, instead of the large one. I didn't realize just how big it was until it was assembled.

So far, it's everything I hoped. The lights are incredibly bright and my first seedlings have come up straight and happy. It's big and has lots of room.
But the comments about assembly ARE 100% RIGHT. The whole thing went together fairly well, but there was some backtracking. I was tempted to rewrite the instructions.The small drawings need to be clearer. They are ambiguous.
The lights are entirely problematic. Mine kept falling out into the trays. I contemplated drinking whiskey while assembling. There was some cursing.
Now I raise and lower them as if they are wired with explosives. Two weeks in, so far so good. If I had room, I would definitely get aother one. Just please fix the light issue!!! The product is so good it doesn't deserve that weakness!
