If you've tried starting seeds under shop lights, you'll be surprised at how much better they grow in a SunLite Garden. Not only are the lights much brighter than regular fluorescent tubes, they also easily adjust up and down so you can keep them just the right height above the plants. Plus, you don't need to hide this attractive stand in the basement — put it somewhere where you can enjoy your plants and brighten your living area with full-spectrum light. SunLite Gardens are ideal for starting all types of seeds and provide optimum conditions for flowering houseplants like orchids and hibiscus. If you're new to starting seeds, why not start out right?
The new, ultra-light fixtures weigh just 6 lbs and have a slimmer profile to give plants more headroom. They measure a full 14" wide to ensure even light coverage across each shelf. Inside, there are two T-5 bulbs that produce an abundance of brilliant, full-spectrum light. These bulbs use 45% less energy than standard fluorescent bulbs and provide up to 10,000 hours of use. All fixtures have their own pull-chains for easy height adjustments and electronic ballasts to eliminate any annoying buzzing.

Comments about Standard 3-Tier SunLite® Garden:
I had an earlier version of this grow light unit and sold it to a friend before I moved from SE SD to western MN. I ordered the new design last spring and used it a little before a house fire destroyed it (and most of my other growing supplies). I had my own CSA and market garden business, and I liked starting early indoors and then moving plants out in a rotation--first leeks and onions, to brassicas, lettuces, tomatoes and peppers. I liked the old design, but the new design is far superior--better lights, less bulky. I am now replacing the one I lost in the fire last summer, so I can grow great transplants!

We are using this large growing station to become the herb center and to start the veggies from seed for the outdoor garden. It was due to this we selected the large three tier station. Perfect.

I purchased this as a Christmas gift to myself. I waited to write a review until after I used the product. This exceeds my expectations, I LOVE this light system! This is sturdy, love having it on wheels and looks nice in gardening area of the garage. It does take two people to assemble, we mixed a few pieces when assembling but quickly figured it out. The plastic trays are study. I have seedlings doing well under the lights. Placed a few plants that were in need of light and already see new growth and improvement. I appreciate the easy pay system with 0% interest, makes it affordable for me to purchase. I highly recommend buying the light timer with this as well. I am thrilled with the product and highly recommend it to any plant lover or gardener.

Comments about Standard 3-Tier SunLite® Garden:
I bought this product for use in a small "plant room", the section of my house in which I grow orchids and a few other tropical plants. Before I bought it, I called Gardener's Supply about using it in an area with high humidity and even frequent misting, and was told it should be fine. The only worry I have in that regard is yet to be decided, but I'll let you know.
The product is well made, and sturdy; I especially like how thick and unbendable the trays are, not floppy and prone to cracking like some. Once I finished putting the thing together, I could really appreciate the quality of this product.
The directions are less than perfect, and, if you look at the forums on the internet, you'll find more commments like mine. My first suggestion is to be sure you have the top and bottom of the S1L and S1R pieces identified, and be sure you have all the "dimpled" holes on the outside of the bars. The unit comes with the light bulbs installed into the ballasts; remove the bulbs before doing anything with the ballast, or you risk snapping one of the bulbs. Assembly is definitely easier with two people.
The caster inserts did not fit the ends of the bars well, and I had to shave a bit of plastic off, and whack them with a rubber hammer to get them in. Three of the casters went in with a great deal of pressure, while the other needed that plus having the caster insert reamed out with a screwdriver to get the caster installed at all.
Where the power cords plug into the ballast, they actually put a little weight on the light fixture, pulling it out of plumb, so I used electrical tape to attach the cord to the frame and keep the fixture level.
The link cord for each light fixture is a very clever way to cut down on the light for each tray; be sure to seat the plugs very well, as they may pull out as you are handling the fixture. I'd like to see the tabs for the small split rings turned 90 degrees, which would allow the light fixture to go about an inch higher into the A3 bars, and give me that much more space for my plants.
There is no way to give this product four and three quarters stars, but that's what I would do if I could; I'd only give it a quarter star off because of the less than perfect directions, and less than easy assembly.
Once I got the unit assembled, I was very happy with it, and expect it to perform well for a long time. This is a great product!

I bought both the 4' three tier and the 2' two tier as a gift. I had been watching them for a year and finally caved during a sale.
During my wait some reviews called them flimsey. They are not cheap recycled steel but solid aluminum, heavier than typical patio furniture or your storm door and with a superior finish that didn't scratch or flake off during assembly. Assembley had a few missteps (The dimpled sides go against other pieces; Support it on one side to feed key chain through the holes on the other) but went together quickly and, more important, everything fit. There is a right way and wrong way to put the lamps in the hoods, if you determine where the electrical cords plug in first it will make sense. The weight of the power cords cause the hoods to tilt, I electrical taped them to the vertical frame with a loop of slack for height adjustment to correct the tilt and tape at the base to tidy things up.
While I listed the price as the Con these are worth the price. Comparing them to shop lights is apples to oranges. The light units themselves are expensive anywhere, I don't know why, if you are still a bachelor or only going to use lamps for a couple months a year to start seedlings out of sight in a back room you might consider $30 lumber yard lights with grow bulbs and a 2X4 frame. We have electric heat so I intend to use this in my living room for house plants six months a year.

I bought this product just before Christmas (at a discount) in order to more efficiently start my seeds for the garden this spring. As I live in the mountains at 8,000 feet I need to get a head start on my seedlings. I am pleased with the looks and the ease of assembly but have yet to experience how well it performs. I have a feeling that i will wish i had another, but have no more room in my small cabin. This was The best priced product of its kind i could find.

Wonderful light stand. The set up preculdes placing larger plants on the trays, but I have a number of citrus and succulent plants I placed on the flood near the lights and they are thriving. Plants I've had for years are flowering for the first time! Each light can be timed independently.

Comments about Standard 3-Tier SunLite® Garden:
I love the product. It was delivered right away. It was easy to put together but there are things to look out for. Make sure check all 4 sides of where screws go in. The places with larger holes are inset screws. If you do this wrong it will take some time to see what you did wrong. If it has plastic on the hole it is where the chains go not the screw! If you place the unit on it's side you can just slide the chain right in then switch to the other side. This makes it much easier.
Everything works beautifully! Very sturdy!
