Our Vermont-made SunLite® Gardens employ the latest in lighting technology to give your plants the ideal quality and intensity of light for optimum growth. You can start plants from seed, grow herbs, houseplants, or even try your hand at growing orchids. Our new, ultra-light fixtures have a slimmer profile to give plants more headroom. They measure a full 14" wide to ensure even light coverage across each shelf. Inside, there are two T-5 bulbs that produce an abundance of brilliant, full-spectrum light. These bulbs use 45% less energy than standard fluorescent bulbs and provide up to 10,000 hours of use.
This kit has everything you need to grow plants indoors, at a great price! You'll get our Standard 3-Tier SunLite® Garden, four Fast Start™ Seedstarters, two bricks of Eco-co™ Coir, one 2.5 oz. jar of PHC fertilizer, 48 wooden seedling markers and one manual timer power strip.

The sunlight garden is great for starting our tomatoes, cucumbers, melons, and basil. We are now ready to transplant to our outdoor garden.
The one big downside that needs a bit of re-engineering is that the fluorescent lights don't stay well in their clips, and fall into the seedlings. Otherwise, A++

To make this a better product I've asked my husband to possibly install a shelf on the top of the unit. This is a handy spot for frequently needed non-heat sensative items. The only other solution we are considering is to have basket shelves or pockets, like a over the door shoe holder, attach or hook over the top crossbar on the end of the unit. Spray bottles, rooting powders, small hand tools, etc. can be nearby. I have this unit in my basement so all of my other gardening supplies are out in my shed.

We are using this grow-lab in our classroom. We began hydroponic bean seeds as part of our science investigation on "Structures of Life". I created floating mats to replace the ones that came in our science kits, and the beans have been thriving under the lights. First they flowered, and now we have actual green beans growing hydroponically!

We have one tray full of baby herbs, one tray full of tomatoes and peppers, and one tray with several varieties of lettuce, spinach, and kale. The timer is convenient, and the stand looks nice and was easy to assemble. We are looking forward to many years of enjoyment from this product.

The directions included were not in enough detail. The holes on the bottom of the sides of the unit have 3 holes the same size and one larger. The larger hole must be on the outside of the unit, with the screw going through the hole and screwed completely so that when the bottom rails that hold the trays are attached, that there is room for the final screw.

This product is sturdy, functional, and easy to use and clean. I love that it came with a complete seedstarting kit including four trays that really work to keep seedlings moist. I've got native plant seedlings already coming up. The lights are also nurturing houseplants and herbs that I brought in for the winter. However, I did have to cut back my herbs so they'd fit under the lights. This isn't for full-grown plants. It really is best for seeds and seedlings.
The instructions say that two people can put this together in an hour. My wife and I spent THREE hours putting it together. I knew to expect that thanks to other reviewers. I also agree with others that the instructions should reference both front-back as well as inside-outside of the components. Be methodical as you go!
My shipment was missing one of the cords that link the bulbs. I called the company on a Sunday and customer service was there to respond and mail the part. I also told them the suggestions I make here regarding the instructions.
