Super Hoops

I have tomato plants and they are in a large container. These hoops along with the row cover will protect against frost(common in my area) and deer. Although I have not used them yet, I am looking forward to being able to when the time comes.

In the Northwest spring, the weather can go from hail to bright, warm sunshine. Those tomato plants can become wimps when left exposed to the cold night air or the daytime showers that come and go. I line up several rows, connecting two super hoops over several plants, cover with clear plastic and clothespin the plastic to the hoops so the wind does not blow it away and the water can drain off the "roof". I have planter boxes surrounded in fencing to keep the deer out. Pinning the plastic to the fencing allows for venting on warm wet days so the plants don't sweat or get too warm under the plastic. It is really a system in which the heat and wet can be regulated to the optimum benefit of the plants. They grow as though they were in a greenhouse.

This system has allowed me to have the best tomatoes I've even had -- so far this spring.

The tabs did not fit to connect the hoops together. The rungs kept popping off when we tried to secure them in the ground. They were not flexible, kept bending. I planned on using it on my grapevine, because every year the birds eat my grapes. I ended up making little bags from the light weight fabric I ordered instead. I am not happy with my purchase of the Super Hoops.

I have recommended your site to other amateur gardeners. I am making plans for the fall which include some raised bed planting.

Hoops work great and are sturdy enough to get the job done. Have 6x3 raised beds and put 3 in each bed that needed them. Held up fine and we have wind - will definitely be back to buy more.

Use the Hi-Rise Super Hoops to create a structure to protect your plants. I covered this structure with fabric and got a 3-week head start on the growing season in my Denver garden. It is very easy to use. My neighbors commented on how good it looked and were curious as to what was growing in them. My tomato plants loved it!

This hoops with fabric will shield my peppers from the extreme summer sun in the San Joaquin Valley and will prevent sunburn.

I found these hoops very simple to use and to move. The latter is important to me because I've been using them to protect new plantings for a few days to a week until they get acclimatized, then I move the covers to another set of new plants. They're also quick to move and set up if an unexpected low temperature is forecast, and you have plants that would be sensitive to the cold. I read that one buyer had a broken weld in one support. I was concerned about that possibility when I was bending these into shape, but so far no problems at all.

I will be ordering some more! These replaced a PVC pipe frame and they are perfect! The birds pick my blueberries clean without bird netting to cover them. These frames allowed me to size the structure for the height and width I needed. During the off-season, these will be easy to pull up and won't take up any storage room at all!

I used the hi-rise super hoops in raised beds with bird netting to keep cats and other critters out. Hoops lasted 2-3 months max before cross pieces began to rust and then weld separated. On some hoops, all welds are gone now and they are no longer usable, others are hanging in there but it wont be long. Also, in-line connectors for super hoops do not fit tight enough to keep them together under any stress at all, and easy to lose them. Overall just a very poor product. A shame because they look good and work great, for a very short time.
