Comments about Super 7 Seedstarting System:
This unit did not have very good instructions but was fairly easy to figure out. I did use the recommended seeding soil and was so pleased to see the little seeds begin to show themselves; however; no sooner were they up before the touched the top of the vented unit. My plants need to be transferred before they are ready to go. Watering very easy and overall idea really great but much much too small. I feel I will lose a lot of my little seedlings when I transplant. I was hoping the unit would be much taller so the plants could grow there until time to really transplant. I went back to the catalog and internet to try to call this product back up without any success. The fact that I ordered two of these is very dissapointing to me. I will not buy it again. Needs much improvement. Seed startting soil very good.

Comments about Super 7 Seedstarting System:
I hybridize houseplants. I find the mini units to be useful in growing from leaf cuttings. I also put young seedlings inside (growing in thumb pots) for the greenhouse effect until they are sturdy enough to join others on a light plant stand.
I do not use with the capillary matting as it can quickly spread pests/disease to all in a container.
The mini greenhouses with adjustable domes are used for fragile or ailing seedlings or plantlets.
I have 2 sets I have bought over the years from Lee Valley, so I don't know just how exclusive this product is. I paid more from them.
For my purposes it is worth having them even tho I don't use the watering system. Others may not feel that way.

Comments about Super 7 Seedstarting System:
Use the product to grow seedlings only. It is too small to grow them to producing size. I planted the seeds as instructed and the system worked well. Once they got to a good size, we transferred them to The Urban Garden which is similar but much bigger. I found it at [@]. Put those two systems together and you can grow a lot.

Comments about Super 7 Seedstarting System:
I grow most of what I eat. Which means hundreds of plants. I have been very frustrated in finding sturdy, re-usable containers for micro greens and seed starting only. These are fantastic for both. Dishwashable too which saves a lot of time. These will last a long, long time.
Please take note that these are for seed starting only. Once the seedlings get an inch high or so they should be transplanted. This type of one container sowing saves huge amounts of time/cost factors. As I transplant, I stick a little growing medium back in the tray and plant another seed.
For micro greens they can be used for an entire crop (with vermiculite as a medium).
Then I transplant to Root Trainers.
Two sets of these will fit length-wise on the heavy duty heating mats that have a metal rack enclosure.
Perfect!

Comments about Super 7 Seedstarting System:
Keeping in mind I haven't used this yet, but it's a well made product. It's smaller than I imagined, though they do give the dimensions on the site, you don't really 'get it' until it's actually in your hands. With that said, after I got over the initial shock, you realized you can start a heck of a lot of seedlings in one of these little flats and then transplant 'em somewhere else later, which is how this is designed to be used. Score! Then, clean out, refill and start again. If it wasn't so well made, you'd probably break the thing while washing it, but it's durability is it's strong point. I can't wait to get started!

Comments about Super 7 Seedstarting System:
I was attracted to this product because each tray has its own humidity dome, compared to the APS systems. When I received the product, I wasn't very happy with the seed trays. Unlike the APS systems which divide each tray into cells with completely open bottoms, this system has each seed tray as one large tray. I don't know if this will be a problem with the roots intertwining or not, but I am going to modify mine and add dividers to the tray. I then plan to drill out the bottom of each divided section. I like to have fully open bottoms for better water intake as well as assisting in the removal of the seedlings. The existing holes in the bottom of the tray are really small and in the corners of the trays. I wish APS made similar system. Would have also been nice to have more descriptive pics of the actual product (not a drawing) on the site. Overall I think this product will work, but I am going to have some work put into it. I am glad that I got it on clearance.

Comments about Super 7 Seedstarting System:
I set the system up, and got the wicking materal wet, as the instructions stated. I planted my seeds and 1 week later the seeds did come up. But the system tends to keep the seedlings too wet. With the exception of the squash seedlings, everything else (Bok Choy, Tomatoes, Romaine Lettuce, Mescaline) died. seems to stay too wet.
