Why Our SunLite Grow Lights
Are Better

With T-8
Roots grown under SunLite fluorescent bulbs.

Unlike ordinary fluorescent light bulbs, our SunLite fluorescent bulbs replicate 98% of the solar spectrum to bathe your plants in all the colors of natural sunlight. The result?

  • Stocky seedlings with well-developed root systems
  • More robust foliage plants
  • Orchids and other tropicals that flower with abandon

When you grow seedlings under SunLite bulbs, you won't see the usual signs of light starvation: leggy seedlings leaning inward toward the light. Instead, you'll see straight, stocky seedlings with well-developed leaves and root systems. In the garden, these healthier, more robust seedlings will get off to a faster start after transplanting, which means an earlier, more abundant harvest of fruit and flowers.

New Thinner Bulbs Last Longer and Use Less Energy

In recent years, fluorescent bulb technology has taken a big leap forward. We are now offering a new line of SunLite bulbs that are narrower in diameter. These T-8 and T-5 bulbs require 20% less energy to produce the same amount of light, and are made with 70% less mercury, 30% less phosphorous and 40% less glass. They also burn 4,000 hours longer than traditional fluorescent bulbs. What's more, these new bulbs run on quiet electronic ballasts, so there's no annoying buzz.

We offer two sizes of these new, narrower profile bulbs: T-8 bulbs are 48" L and approximately ¾" diameter; T-5 bulbs are 22 ¾" L and approximately ½" diameter. Both must be used with specially-designed fixtures that have the appropriate electronic ballasts. In traditional fluorescent fixtures, we recommend using the familiar, 1" diameter bulbs, now called SunLite T-12 bulbs.
