      Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:

I love this feeder. The first squirrel visitor to the feeder, opened it up and chowed right down. The error was mine, and once I attached the lid correctly, it worked wonderfully. It protects my smaller birds from jays and orioles, which will dominate the feeder. The small birds now have their share of seeds and the feeder is extremely active! I would certainly purchase this item again and probably will!

      Seed Falls Right Out

        Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:

Echoing previous reviewer's statements, seed meant for small birds falls RIGHT through the mesh. I buy a wild seed blend, and if you pour it in REALLY carefully and DON'T move it while hanging it up, it can work. (I feel like I'm performing in a circus act when I do this :) A slight breeze will spew seeds all over the ground, which I might even be okay with, but, as of late, our ground feeders seems to have taken up somewhere else.

And, even if you manage to successfully complete your balancing act, the birds just don't like this feeder. They prefer my other weighted bar/spring loaded squirrel-proof feeders to this one. It's a shame, though, as the bigger birds/bullies (ie: GRACKLES) have no problem feeding from those stations. I was hoping this would give the smaller birds some peaceful feeding.

I love the IDEA of this feeder, and I enjoy the design, I just wish it was more efficient and that the birds were as fond of it as I am. I can't help but think that the precarious position of the seeds and their tendency to come spilling out has something to do with their dislike for this feeder. If I could, I'd return this.

We had the 1st one a LONG time, but finally had to replace it as the base had holes from rusting.
It sure does keep the squirrels from getting in.

          Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:

the only con that this item had was that the chain that holds the lid when you fill it was broken off from the lid. Other than that, it is a well made item and the birds absolutely love it. Almost as much as we love watching the birds!

                  Comments about Globe Cage Feeder:

Most of the striped sunflower seed is too large for the birds to pull through the wire mesh. Red squirrels can easily pass through the globe cage; it does stop the grays however.

This is great for holding sunflower seeds. Have had yellow and red finches, nuthatches, and chickadees visiting so far. Good for smaller birds. There is another version of this feeder for small seed mixes.
