I was startled by the low quality of this item--so much so that I phoned the company and they argeed to pay for shipping it back to them.

The metal legs implant into the lawn. We feed lots of birds and when hot weather comes, this will give them another source of water. I thought from the picture it was gold glazed ceramic, but it looks like unglazed earthenware. Still, a nice look.
