Living outside of Seattle and getting alot of winter rain, this doesn't work. The rain pushes the top off so it does freeze when we have a colder day.

Unfortunately, this is not a great product. Its a weird shape so its difficult for the birds to access the water. Most importantly, the water freezes too quickly.

Disappointed in the fact that this is a product claiming to keep the water from freezing but you need to bring it in at night to do so. Even during the day it will ice up. The birds would not even approach it.
