We hung them in the beautiful trees that we have surrounding our yard. It set a very soft and lovely tone. I was impressed with the workmanship and with their easy assembly and disassembly. We have now packed them away for our next Spring and Summer bout of entertaining.

                Comments about Solar Shoji Lanterns:

We hung the lanterns on fence posts above the garden border that surrounds our back yard. I was a bit surprised how big they were, but after a full day of sun-charging the solar panels, they were fairly bright and looked lovely for at least 6 hours. Up close and during the day you see the glue slopped on the material, hence the assembly quality and appearance are only okay. We did have to invest in hooks to hang the lanterns, although they can be hung from the ends of a picnic table umbrella or anywhere they will get full sun all day. I was pleased that they held up well after a brisk wind and falling off the hooks, however they are not weather resistant to rain, (the solar panels are not impervious to water), and the wire supports intended to maintain the lanterns shape/length do not stay in place after the lantern's material has been stretched by them. All in all, they are not bad, but a pricey investment, especially if they get wet.

                Comments about Solar Shoji Lanterns:

I was surprised at how big the lanterns were when they arrived, but I quickly adapted them into my garden. I bought 4 and I have them on hooks in my garden beds and they are fabulous to look at in the night. They have held up against some pretty tough wind and rain storms too! I am not sure how I lived without these before. I really love them.

                  Comments about Solar Shoji Lanterns:

In the catalog, these lanterns looked like they would make nice accents and indeed they look great at night hanging from tree branches. During the day, they look cheap and ugly. The bronze color is fading unevely after only a few weeks outside. The inside bamboo struts have patches of mildew. The corners were put together unevenly with glue that is clearly visible.

I purchased four and hung them on the edge of a covered porch. They got wet in a very hard rain storm. The wooden supports began to blacken shortly after the storm and the glue used on the fabric seams now shows a lot. For the price, I am not pleased with this product.

If I keep this product and not throw it in the trash, I'll hang it very far away from visual inspection since the rust and the tiny, distracting bulb will be harder to see. Overall the design is very pretty.
