These were purchased to rid the garden of slugs, whick they are doing a wonderful job. They are also a nice addition to my eclectic garden decorations.

Comments about Slug Traps, Set of 2:
I purchased these to catch snails in my strawberry patch. I added beer which evaporated in a day or two in warm weather. The only things I caught were a few slugs which stuck to the bottom when the beer dried up. These do look very nice as decorative pieces in my strawberry patch.[...]

Comments about Slug Traps, Set of 2:
The cavity to catch slugs is quite small. It is difficult to add beer, a carbonated liquid, to the trap due to foaming. Worst though is that one or two large slugs will completely fill the cavity. If you dont have signs of slugs this may be an attractive garden distraction however, if slugs are in your garden these traps will not help you. Cute idea.

Comments about Slug Traps, Set of 2:
It was always such a pain to have to refill traps after a rain storm. The "caps" on the 'shrooms keep the beer from being diluted.

Comments about Slug Traps, Set of 2:
I have had two traps in my garden for about 45 days and they have trapped grubs and earwigs, but never a slug or snail. A trap from Lee Valley meanwhile has trapped both snails and the big old slugs that were eating my tender plants. I'll be ordering more of the traps that actually work, no more of your soapstone "decorations." I don't use garden decorations like these.

I use it to gather pesky slugs. It is decorative as well as functional!

Comments about Slug Traps, Set of 2:
These slug traps are made of carved soapstone. The mushroom cap, which comes off for filling, has a recessed area where it sets onto the base. Since the cap is solid stone, it's weighty enough that one doesn't have to worry about it easily coming off. Two large holes in the mushroom stem provide entrances for the slugs. Very simple, but effective design. The mushroom base holds about 2 oz. of beer.
My only disappointment is that my pug is attracted to the beer, so I have to place the traps in areas he can't access.

They are a bit small and need attention often, but over all are attractive and blend with the surroundings.

Comments about Slug Traps, Set of 2:
I've used beer in shallow pans, usually disposable pie tins, in the garden in the past and they have worked great. The downside is they are ugly. This year I decided to invest in a more permanent solution to fighting the slugs. This has worked great and is definitely more visually pleasing in the garden.
