Shipping Methods

We offer several methods of shipping:
Economy Shipping (delivery in 6-12 business days)
FedEx Ground (3-7 business days)
FedEx Express Saver (3 business days)
FedEx 2-Day (2 business days)
FedEx Standard Overnight (Next business day for orders placed before 11 a.m. EST)

Economy Shipping

Economy shipping is "our best method" for sending your order to you.  Orders ship by Federal Express (FedEx) and the U.S. Postal Service, and your order may come by each method in separate packages. For your shipping address, please provide a physical address and a P.O. Box address when applicable.
 
Delivery times range from 6 to 12 business days within the lower 48 states. Shipments to Alaska, Hawaii, and U.S. Territories travel by parcel post and will arrive in 2 to 4 weeks.  
 

Note: If you are shipping items to more than one address, there is a $5.00 charge for each additional address. Sales tax is charged on orders shipped to Vermont (6%).

Fed Ex Ground Shipping

This optional upgrade to your shipping method will get your in-stock order to you via Fed Ex Ground Delivery in 3 - 7 days.  Your entire order will ship by this method.  By selecting this method, an additional $3.50 will be added to the shipping charges as shown in the table above.  This option is not available outside the lower 48 states.
 

Faster Shipping (FedEx Express Saver, 2-Day and Standard Overnight)

Options for faster shipping can be selected during checkout. Fees are calculated based on the weight and size of the item(s) you’re ordering. Orders must be received by 10 a.m. Eastern Standard Time on a weekday to ship on the same day. FedEx does not deliver on weekends or holidays. If you are especially concerned about delivery, please call us at 1-888-833-1412. 
 
Please note: Some items cannot be expedited. These exceptions are noted in the individual product descriptions on our web site.
 

Items shipped directly from our suppliers

If your order includes an item that is shipped directly from our supplier, that item may  take longer to arrive (typically 1 to 3 weeks) and will arrive separately from other items you have ordered. Faster shipping options are generally not available for these items, except as noted in the product descriptions.
 

Additional shipping on large items

Some of our products are quite large, and have an additional shipping charge. These charges are noted in the individual item descriptions, and will be displayed at the  shopping basket as “Additional Shipping”.
 

Shipping to Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico and other areas outside the lower 48 states.

If your delivery address is outside the lower 48 states, it's best to order by phone so we can give you all the available shipping options. Just call us at 1-888-833-1412. In many cases, delivery takes 2 to 4 weeks. (Even if you select a faster shipping method, orders can take up to 7 business days to arrive.) In addition, depending upon the item you order and where it's being sent, we might not be able to ship to your area. Also, certain of our products have shipping restrictions, and cannot be delivered to specific states as noted in the item descriptions.
 

Frequently Asked Questions

How are processing and delivery charges calculated? 
Economy shipping charges are determined by the total dollar value of the items on your order, according to the chart above. Some oversize items such as furniture have additional shipping charges, as noted in the product descriptions. Our Economy Federal Express Ground charge is based on the dollar value of your order as shown above, with an additional $3.50 charge. Expedited shipping methods (FedEx 3-Day, 2-Day and FedEx Standard Overnight) are based on the weight and size of the item(s) you have ordered.
 
How long will it take for my order to arrive?
Ecomony delivery of in-stock items generally takes 6 to 12 business days, depending upon the distance of the delivery address from our Vermont warehouse. (Shipments outside the lower 48 states will take longer.) You can always check on the current status of your order by going to the Order Status page. Federal Express Ground delivery generally takes 3 - 6 business days, depending upon the distance of the delivery address from our Vermont Warehouse.
 
Are faster shipping methods available?
Yes, for most items. Options for faster shipping are given during checkout. Fees are calculated based on the weight and size of the item(s) in your order. Orders must be received by 10 a.m. Eastern Standard Time on a business day in order to ship out on the same day.

Can I select faster shipping for part of my order and send the rest via economy shipping?
All items on an order have to be shipped by the same method. To select different shipping methods for your items, you will need to place a separate order for each method.
 
Can I ship my order to more than one address?
Yes, you may ship to more than one address on a single order. There is a $5 charge for each additional shipping address.
 
Can I track my package?
Yes, as long as your order has shipped via a trackable method. To find out, see your e-mail confirmation, or log into your Order Status page.
 
Do you ship outside the 50 U.S. states and territories?
No; because many of our products are restricted by customs regulations and shipping requirements, we can only ship our products to U.S. addresses. If you live outside the U.S. and decide to order with us, we will require a name and U.S. address of someone stateside who can accept the order on your behalf.

Can my order be shipped to an APO or an FPO?

Yes, Gardener's Supply ships to APO and FPO addresses via the U.S. Postal Service. These orders can be placed by phone, fax or mail; however, APO and FPO orders cannot be placed through our web site. We guarantee delivery to the package’s state-side zip code, but cannot ensure delivery beyond that.
