Just one day of hot summer sun can affect the lush, moist flavor of homegrown lettuce, making it bitter; a few days of hot sun will make lettuce bolt to seed, ruining it for the season. These UV-stabilized polyethylene shade net cuts summer sun by 50%, while allowing cool air to circulate freely. Use with fiberglass hoops and clip clothespins.

Comments about Shade Nets:
As promised, my lettuce no longer wilts during the day if I don't water it. My drip system now supplies adequate water. I live in Oakland, CA, where it rarely gets above 80˚, but our skies are usually cloudless in the afternoon in the summer. The netting works exactly as advertised.

Comments about Shade Nets:
The shade net is great. I had to discard the hoops for holding it and use rebar and plastic pipe for the hoops and secure it with electrical ties. The clothes pens did not work. In the past I bought some plastic cones for holding used bottles for watering plants. They were useless.

Comments about Shade Nets:
We made permanent frames for our boxes which allow us to drape the shade cloth over the boxes with clips to secure them and yet reach inside easily for watering and harvesting.

Comments about Shade Nets:
Shade cloth is easily cut to drape over lettuce tubs...provides enough light for lettuce to thrive. Also keeps out bugs. Great product

Comments about Shade Nets:
Netting performs as promised. Best lettuce and spinach crop ever, even when weather warmed up considerably. Useful size- did not have to buy a huge amount to get what I needed. Also discovered it worked well as canopy and backing on our roadside flower stand. Blocked enough sun to keep flowers cool amd fresh while allowing air circulation. Great product!

Comments about Shade Nets:
Ease of installation. Protects tender seedlings from greenhouse to garden. Provides wind protection and too much direct sun. Water penetrates very well for watering. Test plot proves the product is a great addition to any garden in protecting plants.

Comments about Shade Nets:
I've purchased both this black shade cloth and the white ones. I'm using this black one on a new male Kiwi Vine that was having difficulty in the sun. Too early to tell about the vine but I'm pleased with the shade cloth. I'm using the lightweight white sunblock cloths on my vegy garden and they are superior and I highly recommend those.

Comments about Shade Nets:
I am so glad I bought this product, it has saved my garden! It gets all too hot where I live, so this shade give my patio garden the relief from the sun it needs. I just wish it were more of a rectangular shape than square.
