I feel that this item should have a water level in it to let you know when you need to add water. Other than that it is ok and my first time with the self watering which is a good idea but here it needs some level to let you know when the water is needed and something a little easier to fill the water level.

The self-watering helps keep the soil from molding on the top, where the water comes up through the bottom. For it to wick the water you should use potting mix, not potting soil. I repotted some of my plants into the self-watering planters and the took right off.

For the discounted price, the item is awesome. However, the drip holes in the center are too large and visible. They would have been less visible if made smaller and placed on the width sides of the planters.
