Barrel gardens overflowing with colorful flowers look great flanking a driveway, but wooden barrels crack or rot in a year or two. Our Whiskey Barrel looks absolutely authentic, but it's actually made of indestructible half-inch-thick recycled plastic that has the grain and texture of wood, bound by rusted steel hoops that give it an antique look. Best of all, this barrel is self-watering!

THIS PRODUCT IS THE ANSWER!
To add a colorful, easy to care for container (or 2) garden to frame your driveway, this is it!
I planted mine with a riot of colorful annuals, trailing vines, tall spikes and different shades of green background plants. It required watering ONLY once per week and was just a joy to see. EVERY plant grew huge and I actually had to cut some of them back! I recently ordered one as a Christmas gift for our son, who has a big tree stump at the end of his long drive and this planter is going to be the perfect answer for him also! Thank you for this great, authentic looking planter! Gloria Butler, Plain City Ohio

This product performed very well for me and is my favorite planter. Having a lightweight, weather resistant alternative to a wine barrel is a great idea. Only drawbacks so far are that the metal rings on the outside rusted after just one season which sort of ruins the weather resistant aspect of the main tub. Also, I can't find any wicking fabric to replace the one supplied with the tub. It tore apart when I removed everything for winter. This is a large planter and is too heavy to move when filled so I recommend putting it on casters which also elevates the tup for even easier access. With a bit of fine tuning I believe this could be the ultimate self-watering planter.

I share a backyard fence with a close neighbor and wanted to get a clematis growing to provide seasonal privacy between us. I wasn't sure if I wanted the whiskey-barrel look, but decided to give it a try based on testimonials. First, the color of the barrel is (I would say) "espresso brown" which goes perfectly with my more contemporary home. The band is silver, which I also love. However, I'll be happy with the rusty-look, too.
There is definitely enough room for lots of plants and their roots. I have an early pink clematis, a pink dwarf hydrangea, white and pink bacopa, deep-pink baby petunias and pink-to-white gaura. They are all very happy in the barrel, and the clematis has already climbed to the top of the fence trellis-top.
They handled a week-long intense heat wave with no problem. I am now considering one for the front of my home, between the garage bays. First I'll see how mine handles Fall and Winter.

How nice not to have to water every day or to able to go away for a few days and not have to stress about withered plants when I arrive home. I plan to purchase a few of the barrels every year to gradually replace the ever deteriorating wooden barrels that I currently use.

I love self watering items from your company and this fills the bill. However, I bought the item from looking at the picture regarding the color and it appears blue. Receiving the item, color is black.

We've got a small containerized Japanese Maple tree that is the perfect corner piece for our vacation home deck. The problem was keeping it watered when we're away for a week or so. This container was the perfect solution. The sturdy construction of the self watering system makes it strong enough to support the dwarf maple and it's hefty root ball. The large capacity resevoir supplies plenty of water for this thirsty tree when we're gone.

I love this planter. I put it in front of our restaurant(it's a pirate themed rest.) and they look great. The self watering system is very well designed. I would highly recomend them.

This unusual planter is attractive and has gotten lots of positive comments. It was easy to put together and there's plenty of capacity for several potted plants. The only drawback was the immediate rust on the bands after the first rain.
