Using on my deck to hold geraniums. Great because I can move it to follow sunlight. I bought two and followed the simple directions for punching out drainage holes on the second one. I cracked the first one by not following directions.

As this planter is not insulated/double-walled, it probably needs to be stored over cold winter months in New England. For that reason, I decided to buy these planters and use them only in Spring-Fall and am growing a collection of herbs in them. The water reservoir is large and the water level indicator useful to know when I really do need to add water.

A note of caution, the instructions describe how to use a hammer to create holes for water drainage in the base of the planter before you assemble and fill it. Be sure to keep your planter on the ground when doing this, preferably on a stone/asphalt surface. If you tip the planter at an angle to use the hammer, you risk splitting the plastic where the water drainage holes are molded to the base, and then the water reservoir will leak.

As a Senior and former home gardner, I find the Self-Watering Planters great to satisfy my gardening needs on a balcony. The large water capacity also saves a lot of labor, especially in the Florida endless sunny season. Tried two and purchased four more. Easy to move around to give the balcony different looks.

Follow the directions. When punching out the drain holes- have it on a flat surface. I waited until after putting on the casters and cracked the bottom. Still works, but doesn't retain water as it should.

It is great to be able to move a small salad garden into the garage when a cold snap moves throught the area, & then back outside when the sun shines again. Can't beat fresh lettuce salad in December!!

I first tried this planter at work-the plant was doing great so I ordered one for home for a peace lily that was slowly dying no matter what I tried. Since tansplanting it in this planter it has blossomed into a full, green, flowering plant! I am so pleased as the plant was one I received from my sisters funeral and I hated to see it doing poorly. I highly recommend this product!
