I ordered 3 of the deck rail planters (self-watering), and I have been happy with my purchase. The planters are large enough to have a beautiful grouping of showy flowers, and with the self-watering soil, they don't require daily maintenance. I had planned to get the brown planters, but they were back-ordered at the time I was ordering, so I opted for the off-white. I have been happy with the color even though it wasn't my first choice.

I bought 5 for rail planting - they look nice and I can easily cut herbs and lettuce. They're great for anyone but especially for those of us who are older and find the ground "a long way down."

- Large
- Solid Construction
- Well Made
Cons
- none
Best Uses

- Strawberry Plants
I put these on our trex deck/railing (my husband added shims to make them even more secure). We punched small holes in base as directions stated to help drain in heavy rains. I purchased 5 of these and use them for strawberries, flowers and herbs. After just completing a road trip for 10 days I came home to healthy, robust plants. We used the container soil from GS and the combination planter and soil make these the best planters ever!

Pros
- Attractive Planter
- Fits Rail Nicely
- Quality construction
Cons
- Need to drill holes
- No Fill Tube
Best Uses
- Herb garden
I did not read the "additional information" (which was a download pdf file) online and did not have any information sent with my planters. If your planter is going to be out where it gets rain, please drill out the holes before you plant. I love the concept and design of the planters but there needs to be more information given on the actual planter or on the front page of the web description for a novice gardener like myself.

- Decks
This is a wonderful product and i would rate it a 10 out of 10. No assembly you do have to drill a couple of holes so some of the water can get out but other than that there is nothing...
They are very sturdy and it comes in a variety of colors. It saves time in that you don't have to water everyday like you do with normal boxes... They should last for many years to come.

- Deck Planting
We'd been looking for attractive railing planters for our deck and came across these. Loved them right away. The design is more modern than anything else out there, but it's still simple, tasteful, and well made. Love that they are self watering too. The price was definitely higher than other designs and because they are an exclusive design, there is no comparison shopping, but I was lucky to find a 20% off coupon - so remember to search the web before you checkout! Overall love the product. Our herb garden looks great!

I planted tomatoes, lettuce, strawberries, oregano, lemon thyme, parsley, half-long carrots, beans, and cucumbers... everything is growing great for the time being. I love how easy this is to care for, the convenience of just going out on the deck to water or harvest for a meal I'm cooking.
