Comments about Self-Watering Patio Planters:
This is a superior design to my Earth Box. My only concern is for the clear plastic water hole cover, that it will break down with time. Metal would have been a better option there. Great water storage capacity, and with the addition of the optional casters, life is good -- I easily can move the planter around to maximize the sun exposure. I love the color options, too. I hope to use it for many years to come.

Comments about Self-Watering Patio Planters:
We're down in Laredo, TX and from mid-May thru October we typically are at 100+ degrees every day, and the one time my husband tried growing tomatoes outside, it was impossible. He was watering twice daily and could not keep them moist enough to keep the plant alive, much less make tomatoes. I've got a black thumb when it comes to plants but I really wanted to get my 4 year old interested in plants (and maybe eating veggies), so I ordered 2 planters - one for me and one for my husband. My planter is likely overplanted but so far all my cucumbers have come up and the seeds of the wildflower mixture we planted in the other 1/2 of the planter are going nuts. I just opened the overflow holes for outside use, filled with dirt & water, stuck seeds in the ground and it was that simple. Plants have been growing for about 3 weeks and so far they are doing great. Fingers crossed I'll be eating cukes & looking at beautiful flowers soon. Husband hasn't filled his planter yet but will be soon and he's been impressed with the results of my first gardening attempt.

Comments about Self-Watering Patio Planters:
I have the planter on a defunct air conditioner unit. Because of the construction of the unit, the planter filled with water. Once I put a few pieces of tile under the back side of the unit I was able to allow the planter to drain properly. The "fill window" does need to be left open to allow the water to drain from the box. That is not ideal, as bugs can get in and go for a swim, but it is a planter, so bugs are to be expected anyway.

Comments about Self-Watering Patio Planters:
I own 3 of these for my deck right outside my kitchen where I grow herbs and lettuces. I have them on wheels because this deck gets only part sun and I can roll them around during the day to get the strongest light.
Best part: I travel during the summer and I don't have to stress about watering! They are self-maintaining - think I added water maybe twice all summer last year and had herbs all season long.
One of them arrived damaged -I called and they replaced the part immediately - no questions, problem at all.

Comments about Self-Watering Patio Planters:
I have ordered many of these self watering planters over the years. Great for a patio or deck. This design appears will be better to prevent flooding of the planter in heavy rains, which was a problem I had with the last model. Overall well made, I am a bit concerned that the plastic door cover for the well will break if opened a lot. Good size planter, I have grown cherry tomato plants in these previously, but I would not recommend it for plant that has a deep root system, since the water reservoir does take up a good amount of the base of the planter. These planters have been useful for my vacation house, keeps the plants moist for a week or so.
