Our field tests prove it: In self-watering planters, this lightweight mix works better than conventional potting soil. Its coarse, airy texture acts like a wick, carrying water from the planter’s reservoir to the root system. The result is more vigorous root growth, better aeration and less waterlogging. It's also an ideal mix for standard pots and planters. Contains sphagnum peat, perlite, vermiculite and limestone. 20-quart bag.

Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
I bought two of the self-watering window boxes and this mix is just right for what I need. It does not clump and does not need continual airation. I would buy it again as the self-watering is the way to go.

Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
I use the self watering mix in the tomato success kit. I started with one kit and now have two which provides plenty of tomatoes for our use. I buy replacement soil for my kits and look forward each year to a bounty of tomatoes.

Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
Great product, just wish I had ordered more bags. I didn't know the waist high moveable garden trough I bought from G.S. required 5 bagfuls.

Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
I've tried other container mixes, but this is the best. It's the most absorbent, staying evenly moist. I use it especially in a second-floor window box, and appreciate that it's so lightweight. My plants do better in this than in any I've tried.

Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
This mix does indeed work better than regular garden soil in all of my containers and grow bags. I have experimented with different type of soils and need to water less when I use the self-watering container mix. Now, I will use nothing else!
