Exclusive | The Perfect Soil Mix for Self-Watering Containers
- Lightweight mix wicks water from the reservoir to the root system
- Well-drained to prevent waterlogged soil
- Specially formulated for self-watering containers; also great for standard planters
Our field tests prove it: In self-watering planters, this lightweight mix works better than conventional potting soil. Its coarse, airy texture acts like a wick, carrying water from the planter’s reservoir to the root system. The result is more vigorous root growth, better aeration and less waterlogging. It's also an ideal mix for standard pots and planters. Contains sphagnum peat, perlite, vermiculite and limestone. 20-quart bag.

Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
I have become a huge fan of this mixture. I have reached the age where lugging giant bags of that "miracle" potting soil was endangering my back. One blown disk and I would not have been able to work for a long time! The bags are lightweight and the perfect size for filling my self-watering planters and regular planters as well. It is a nice "soil-free" mixture. My plants are thriving in it and growing like crazy. The mix holds moisture for a long time. Well worth the price.

Light enough for growing bags to be moved around. But does not wash away. Works well to keep plant dirt loose, even when mixed with other soil.

Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
I use new self-watering container mix for my tomatoes each year. After the tomatoes are done, I put the used mix in a large trash can (which already has some soil and a few earthworms) along with newspaper strips, coffee grounds, etc....cover it and let it sit through the winter. Makes wonderful potting soil for my other plants the next summer.

Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
Like the feel of it. Don't mix when you are in a place where it is windy as since it is dry in the bag, it does blow around when mixing in the fertilizer. My Tomato plants seem to like it.

Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
This stuff works well in the outdoor self watering pots & window boxes. At the end of the season I dump it on a plastic coated tarp and let it dry for next year: therefore no mildew
