I am used to growing under grow lights, but these compact flourescents just did not seem to do the job. Information about compact flourescents suggested that the plants should be 12 - 18 inches from the light(the compact flourescents of the cabana)as opposed to the inch or two I keep my plants from regular flourescent bulbs. The broccoli I put in there (the grow room was full) turned out very leggy, even though I only had them in there for the first couple of days because I could see what was happening. Disappointing. Will likely reserve its use to ssomething like maintaing herbs in the winter (cilantro, parsley, e.g.).

As a general light garden for african violets and orchids, this is just about perfect. It's easy to elevate plants as needed to get closer to the lights. Trays came with the product, so you have everything you need for a good price.

It was fairly easy to assemble. Not sure why there were clips and zip ties for attachment but I used both. Lights are very high quality. Once assembled, it is sturdy and attractive. Kept my seedlings nice and warm. Would highly recommend.

I love how easy it was to put together, I am so impressed with its sturdyness and effectiveness. I wish I had two of these. Unfortunately I purchased a different two tier grow light 2 years ago therefore, I don't need another one, but, would gladly replace for this one when the time comes. If you're looking to start your own seedlings, this is an excellent way to start, you will absolutely love it..I do!!!

Best Uses
- Starting Seeds
I've been growing lots of seedlings in this unit. They are mostly perenials (some shade and some full sun). They have been doing great - no spindling. I got a few fungus gnats (they look like fruit flies) in there, but insect glue traps took care of them. This is much better than the table top grow lamp which I also have. It comes with nice trays that prevent water spillage.
Pros
- Decent Space
- Very bright
Cons
- Some Cheap Parts
Best Uses
- Seed Germination
It was relatively easy to assemble and it is sturdier than what I expected (although not super). the light are the strip lights "sun blaze" with high output bulbs (24 watts each). The white cover intensifies the brightness. Since each light strip costs about $30 dollars and there 4 of them, the price is good. When assembling make sure the poles are fully inserted into the corners (otherwise it will not be balanced).
