Comments about Santa Fe Rain Barrel:
there are two cylindrical plastic extrusions near the top of the barrel. we assume that they are the overflow ports but they are not finished. there is no outlet hole. they really take away from the appearance and they are not shown in the picture online.

Comments about Santa Fe Rain Barrel:
We ordered two of these - one for each side of our garage - and used rain chains rather than traditional downspouts. This rain barrel looks terrific and is very easy to use/set up. The only problem we've had is the hose detached from the base of one of them. We hope to repair it with some basic epoxy.

Comments about Santa Fe Rain Barrel:
Overflow holes should be placed lower on barrel. Because of the design on top of barrel, water sits above screen possibly attracting mosquitos.
Other rain barrel we own (deluxe 75 gallon big green barrel) has perfectly designed overflow hose so water never sits above screen.

Comments about Santa Fe Rain Barrel:
Had difficult time connecting hose (metal) to rain barrel (plastic). Lost a whole barrel full of rain water with this problem. We finally got it screwed on and now it is working. The plastic shut-off valve on the hose to allow water to flow from the barrel seems cheap and not easy to use. I purchased another rain barrel years ago from Gardeners Supply Company and it seemed to be better made than the Santa Fe one which was more expensive. I love the design and visual of the Santa Fe rain barrel but wouldn't buy another one like it because of the above issues.
Pros
- Attractive
- Conserves Water
- Weather Resistant
Cons
- Flimsy hose
- Not big enough

Comments about Santa Fe Rain Barrel:
I really liked the look of this rain barrel when I first saw it. We have it under a rain chain. But we are in a drought, so I haven't been able to really use it yet. It does need to be elevated as the spout is so low. The flimsy hose has kinked over the hook already, and the over-flow tubes were cracked at the barrel, so will need to be repaired, or cut off & something else installed to be usable. This is my first rain collection item, so overall I'm very pleased.
Pros
- Conserves Water
- Weather Resistant
Cons
- Cumbersome
- Inefficient
- Poor Quality
Best Uses
- Watering potted plants
Comments about Santa Fe Rain Barrel:
Purchased to catch water that puddles in front flower bed. This was attractive looking. Two plastic things that jut out are not seen in ad and trying to hide them is challenging with spout location. Location of spout is also so low that barrel really needs to be elevated.
Pros
- Conserves Water
- Easy To Use
- Precise Spout

Comments about Santa Fe Rain Barrel:
My vegetables are responding must better to the rain water collected in the barrel than to the city water that comes out of the faucet. It filled from the rain gutter in one rainfall. It is easy to transfer rainwater to sprikling can to water the vegetables.

Comments about Santa Fe Rain Barrel:
This is a decorative rain barrel great for filling watering cans with the captured water. The over flow can be run to another area. You have to buy an inch and a half hose for the over flow and so far all I have found to work is a blue swimming pool vacuum hose which is ugly. The plastic threaded attachment at the bottom for the supplied hose is a bit flimsy. I bought two and one threaded on okay. The other is leaky. This barrel is unique for it's looks, simple, and useful.

Comments about Santa Fe Rain Barrel:
[...]. The Santa Fe rain barrel looks very nice on my front porch. Of course I have no idea of how it performs as a rain barrel since we are now in a record-breaking drought. Someday though.
