For years now, gardeners in England have made the most of very limited garden space by growing vegetables, greens and herbs in plastic bags placed on steps, patios and landings. We’ve made improvements and achieved terrific results — and you will, too! First, our Salad Grow Bags are made of patented, double-layer polypropylene instead of sheet plastic. This felt-like fabric breaths better, so your plants won’t suffer from heat build-up, overwatering, or poor aeration. Plus, our fabric air prunes plant roots, resulting in a strong, healthy root system. We’ve developed a Grow Bag for many popular crops — shallow for salads, deep for tomatoes, peppers and potatoes. That means less planting mix to buy and better results.

Comments about Salad Grow Bags:
I've planted lettuce and arugula...and so far I have seedlings....we should be using lettuce in a week or so. I got a late start at planting this year.

Comments about Salad Grow Bags:
This salad bag seemed like such a great idea for a couple rows of lettuce, but it's flimsy and once filled, immovable. I have a small patio garden & thought ahead to place the bag on a movable stand before filling. But the sides flop in and out. I'd have been better off making my own box.

Comments about Salad Grow Bags:
Bought the salad bag to give to my mother who recently retired to a condo and gave up her beloved garden. Her balcony is south facing and she has problems keeping plants watered. The bag with tray and wicking fabric simplifies her watering and keeps plants moist and healthy. Within three weeks the lettuce I planted in the bag was twice the size of the lettuce in my garden planted weeks earlier! Perfect for patios and balconies.

Comments about Salad Grow Bags:
I used these bags to grow lettuce. The sides do not hold their shape so the bag does not stay in a rectangle making it difficult to keep an even depth of soil. The bags are handy to grow veggies on the patio. And they keep the soil moist which is why I chose them over a traditional planter box. But I wish they were less flimsy.

Comments about Salad Grow Bags:
We have a huge deck and because of joint problems have decided to move our very large ground garden
into containers on our deck. I planted the lettuce weeks ago and have more than I know what to do with. I bought the tray to go under it which makes it much easier to move. The area where it is now does not get into full sun until afternoon. As the summer gets hotter, my plan is to move (it's on a wrought iron garden cart) the lettuce to shadier parts of the deck when the sun is strongest to try to keep it from bolting for as long as possible.
