I bought the mallet to install pound in edging. Glad I did. We have a mallet for general purposes. This one is easier to use as it is much lighter and did the job without damaging the edging. I cannot say whether a standard mallet would work as well. Even if I could have used the standard mallet, I am happy to have bought this one.

I used this mallet to pound bamboo stakes into the ground for use with a trellis - and wow! The mallet is the perfect size and weight for this purpose. I was done in no time. That gave me incentive to put in a small fence to keep animals out of my small flower garden. I couldn't have done it without this great tool.
