Comments about Root Storage Bin:
cute storage but not mouse proof. I lined the inside with #8 hardware cloth, and now it's perfect! ready for early potatos from the garden!

Comments about Root Storage Bin:
easy to put together. Agree with previous review, spiral connectors will spiral all the down-into each other, if not fastened somehow. I used pipe cleaners in a "figure eight" fashion on bottom as well as at the half way point to create a stop.

Comments about Root Storage Bin:
I just completed the storage of my carrots in our recently purchased root storrage bin. It was a simple process if you follow the set up instructions. (One note however is to coil the two side spiral coils together making sure the start of the bottom spiral is at least two turns above the middle support bar. This will prevent the lower coil from spiraling to the bottom) I then purchased a 50 pound bag of washed & santized sand and a spritzer bottel for water then followed the instructions for layering. What an easy, clean and safe way to store your root vegetables. I was pleased to find that the handles were designed to handle the weight of the 50 pounds of sand and carrots. I then repeated the same process for our beets.
We couldn't be happier.

A bit too early to determine if this is a good product. Using it to store potatoes and beets. A review should be done next spring.

Comments about Root Storage Bin:
I belong to a CSA, and during the fall we get a large amount of "keeper" produce, like potatoes, carrots, beets, turnips, rutabagas, etc.
I have this sitting on our deck table in the basement. It's the perfect location (dark, cool) and it's keeping my produce fresh, no sprouting, no rot. I bring up just what I need for dinner, and the rest is safe & secure. We picked up the last box of the season over the weekend, and added an additional 15lbs of potatoes, and there's still room!!!!
Just love it, works great for those of us that don't have an actual root cellar.

I have been looking for something like this for a long time, as I have been getting more and more into preserving foods. I will be trying this out this winter, but expect that it will perform very well!
