We keep our stainless steel compost pail in the cabinet under our kitchen sink. We don't have any problem with odor when we use these filters. We change them every 6 weeks, but probably don't need to change them that often.

These filters work really well. I would have rated them five stars but I just started using one and it's growing mold on it. Only been using it two weeks and not sure how often I'm supposed to change them.

These filters are excellent for keeping compost smells unnoticeable in the kitchen. We have our compost bucket near the sink and you would never know that it is there. These charcoal filters are fantastic.
