Comments about 12" Raised Bed Stakes, Set of 2:

These are great at keeping the corners even when stacking frames to make deeper raised beds. I learned the hard way that there is hardly any wiggle room so your corners need to be square and the lengths if the planks need to be exactly the same. Its worth the effort though as the corners are more aligned than if one used short lengths of rebar or wooden stakes instead.

The screw holes should be on the outside of the stake. This would make it easer to change a board if need be.

Comments about 12" Raised Bed Stakes, Set of 2:

These raised bed corners look like they'll last a long time, are light and easy to install. Two problems, first, they are for MILLED lumber, and the boards I bought were "rough sawn." I fixed this by using a power saw to grind down the ends about 1/8th of an inch. Second, I got twelve inch corners, and the stakes to put one raised bed on top of another. But since the corners were 12 inches and the stake was 12 inches, putting the stake in the corner meant no part of the stake was exposed to anchor the top be. I solved this by drilling a hole in the bottom corner and putting a screw in, causing the stake to not go all the way down and leaving some of it exposed to place the top corner on.

I have made 3x12 beds for bluleberries, raspberries and blackberries and made them 18" deep for the root systems. Instead of putting the pastic caps on the corners I will insert a pole down through the corners to facilitate wrapping netting around the bed to keep out the birds.

I bought an extra set of stakes and use one to pound in the stakes halfway down the connector and corners.....that way if you want to add "up" you can insert another stake on top of the one you pounded halfway into the ground.

This does not set up as shown in the picture. I used it on two 24" corners. You have to drill holes through the corners into the stakes and secure with screws in order for it to be evenly in each corner.

I bought these stakes to "stack" two raised beds and make a deeper bed for my vegetable garden. The higher beds make it easier to plant and care for the vegetables. The stakes are just the right size and height to stack a set of corners on top of another to make a bed twice as high.

Much better way to stake down the composite lumber than some of the other choices out there (I have used others). Once the cap is installed this piece is not visible. Drives very easily but you should use a piece of lumber to buffer it from direct hammer impact as it will mushroom.
