Ibought my first birdbath about 5 years ao. Have greatly enjoyed watching birds drinking and bathing. It's also a good conversation piece. I live in Michigan, a rather severe climate, so am happy to be able to give birds and squirrels (and the cat) fresh water in the winter.

I previously rated this item, but am happy to do so again. The great thing is,this bath provides much needed water in the winter. It is not well made, at all. We frequently have to relevel it. The dish is shallow, so I add water every day. I don't imagine this bath will withstand the weight of the icy, wet snow we often get around here. We'll see.

Because of the mild winter here, I haven't been able to test the heating aspect of this unit. Additionally, just after ordering it, a neighbor's cat began using my stone bird bath (also attached to the deck rail) to get his water fix. So I've haven't filled it yet in hopes that the cat will find a water source elsewhere. My only surprise is that the pan and the heating element are one piece; I would have thought that the pan would lift our (without the element) for cleaning and filling.

After we watched the blue jays trying to break the ice in our bird bath, we decided to try a heated bath. I found this bath to be well built, easy to assemble, and easy to mount. I've moved it a couple of times to find the best location for viewing from the house, with no problems. The birds - especially the jays - seem to really like it and use it daily.
