This prism star sends colors and light into my home even during the depressing dark of the winter. Even when it is dark outside, the star is a lovely, decorative item. It is much sturdier than I expected and is ready to hang. My daughter immediately ordered one for herself.

I purchased three prism stars as gifts for my nephew and two nieces. In December 2012 their sister passed away. She was 60 years old and had been a nurse for 40 years, always working the midnight shift so that she could have more personal contact with patients, bringing light to the darkness felt by many of them. I believe that just as prisms make visible to us colors which are not ordinarily seen, so a precious life affects us in ways we may not have realized. I hoped that when those who received the stars would observe these colors, they would be reminded of the ways in which their sister had touched their lives.

We are a "rainbow" family and were excited about this prism's possibilities. Unfortunately the prism effect is very limited, probably because the glass is not thick enough to create the necessary bevel angle. A great idea gone wrong!
