Comments about Plant Protection Tents:

I had read the negative reviews of this product, but finding nothing else out there that was comparable, decided to give it a go. The netting component is great, but the supports snapped within only a few days of setting it up in a raised bed, without significant wind or other outside forces. They seem to be under too much tension. I am using the netting with some generic long stakes, but cannot achieve the tight seal from insects etc. that is intended in normal use of the product. Clearly the supports need to be reworked.

I bought the product which was difficult to assemble. One of the poles stretched so now I have a tent hanging to one side. I did not realize until after I placed it over my squash that the containment will prevent bees from pollinating the blooms!

I BOUGHT ONE OF THESE TENTS LAST YEAR AND ONE THIS YEAR. BOTH OF THEM HAVE HAD ONE OF THE STAYS SNAP AND BREAK. I HAVE NO WAY TO CLAMP IT TO KEEP IT STRAIGHT. SO NOW IT IS SITTING TILTED OVER THE PLANT I AM TRYING TO KEEP THE CATERPILLERS FROM EATING DOWN TO THE ROOT. I GOT ONE THIS YEAR THINKING I WOULD HAVE A BETTER SHOT. THAT IT WOULD NOT DO THE SAME THING THAT HAPPEND LAST YEAR NO SUCH LUCK. HELENA BUSHNELL

        Comments about Plant Protection Tents:

I loved the idea and bought (2). They were easy to assemble but within one short week 3 of the 4 poles had snapped and upon inspection the 4th was ready to break. The radius at the top of the tents is too tight. The lengths of the rods and the ferrules are too short which places too much strain on the rods and when they snap, the tent collapses. I wanted to make these work and found a local company (I'm in San Diego) that sells 20' lengths of 1/4" solid fiberglass rod. I had the rods cut in half and they were easy to install into the rod pockets without the ferrules. I secured the end caps to the new rods with a bit of silicone adhesive and now I have a functioning product. The overall length of the new rods is about 2" shorter than the ones included with the tents, but they hold the shape well with less stress at the top of the tent. For me it was a good solution at an additional cost, but I imagine others would not want the additional cost or hassle. I didn't. But then, no one wants the additional cost and problem of returning an item to the seller either. Bottom line, the manufacturer needs to remedy it's design problem. Would have recommended this, but not as it is currently designed.

          Comments about Plant Protection Tents:

I didn't realize how awkward it is to access my raised beds using my old tent-style covers, until I got this one and easily zipped it open to weed the bed. No more struggling to fit the cover back onto the bed when I'd taken it off to get at the plants.
Instead of using the stakes provided with this to hold it down (there wasn't enough solid soil to put them into in the box), I put screws directly into the wood frame of the bed and anchored the tabs at each corner of the tent to them.
I've bought a second one for another bed. Looking forward to easy picking for my strawberries this summer!

I was impressed with the tents. The zippers on two sides work well and allow easy access to the plants inside. The tents are satisfactory quality for their price. I will buy replacement protection tents when the ones I'm using now wear out.

                  Comments about Plant Protection Tents:

When I first purchased the 2 tents, I was excited. They would not fit over the outside of the 3x3 boxes so I had to put them inside the boxes. This made them less sturdy, but I was still happy and wrote a good review. Shortly after the first month one tent had a pole snap. There was no wind. Called customer service and got a free replacement pole. I was still happy. A week later the new pole snapped and the other tent had a pole that snapped too. Called for free replacement poles. When the new poles arrived, I put them thru small flexible plastic pipes at the top of the tent. Next day both tents had broken poles again. I wanted these tents to work. Went to camping stores and tried to find fiberglass tent poles, but none were small enough. I finally gave up. I am not happy. The square 3X3 pop-ups were better even if you had to take them off to harvest. Too bad mine expired after 4 years and I can't get replacements.
