The blue oyster musroom kit arrived at my door while it was below freezing...maybe that explains why growth has been minimal. I have grown mushrooms before by another company without any issues. The few mushrooms that did grow were attractive and tasty, but I only have about 10 mushrooms to show for by $50 + payment!

This product has been a breeze to water and the results are plentiful, tasty and easy to harvest. It is the first time we have ever tried to grow mushrooms in our home. The directions are easy to follow and we are just pleased on how quickly we were able to attain the mushrooms. We would recommend anyone interested in growing their own mushrooms this is the best way to grow them with a very active life style. A watering in the morning and one when you get home from work. In two weeks you have enough fresh mushrooms for two entire meals. We are currently ready to harvest our next batch of mushrooms that just took another week for the mushrooms to grow. When it's this easy we are planning on purchasing another box of mushrooms from the varied assortment. Get growing!

The growing mushrooms were really interesting to watch, a life form that I had never experienced so up close and personal. Despite looking really interesting and odd, the blue oyster mushrooms didn't taste all that special. They tasted like regular mushrooms, but made a good filler in a stir-fry, because they had a slimy (not unpleasantly so), yet chewy texture not found in boring white mushrooms. Fortunately, there were successive waves of mushroom crops; if the mushrooms had popped up one at a time, there would never have been enough of them at one time to make anything substantial. The box is bulky and was hard to find a satisfactory location for.

I bought this for my husband as a Christmas gift. Honestly, we were beginning to think it was a dud, since the mushrooms did not appear as quickly as the instructions implied. But we moved it to a better light location and now we have mushrooms in almost all the openings. And they are huge! We just harvested the first bunch- about 20 oz., and there are plenty more. All in all, a good gift.

At this time I cannot comment on the actual taste or flavor of the Blue Oyster Mushrooms. I have just been a little over a week in watering the spores, with no results. As I looked on the website it stated that the mushrooms will start to appear after 2 weeks of watering. I look forward into tasting these flavorful mushrooms and being able to enjoy them for a few more times. I received this as a gift and I was very excited to sow my own mushrooms and you've made it so easy. I receive your catalog and look forward to this coming planting season. Thanks again for making this possible.
