As far as I can ascertain, this seed starting mix is well formulated. The seeds certainly seem to like it. My only gripe is that there are large hard pieces that will cause me to sift the mix the next time I use it. Frequently seeds would land on a large clump that I would have to dig out of the seed pots, unlike Gardener's Supply's other seed starting mix, which I also like.

I start seeds in my basement with lights and a heated pad. These seeds start quickly with the right soil, but not many seedling soils hold enough water.

After several years of using other commercial seedstarting mixes and also mixing my own, I tried this. After several years of using it, I highly recommend it to those who are new to seedstarting so they will be successful. With this I don't need to transplant as soon as I previously had to. And this year I am adding the PHC fertilizer so my little sprouts will really have a great start.

I can at this time emphasize that potatoe plants "propel" their growth with this product. Today I planted seeds in the cowpots, using this. I shall assume it and the cowpots will give us fantastic plants "smiling" at us. Therefore, I cannot rate it for vegetables, seedlings, herbs or flowers yet. I'd appreciate an opportunity to send a supplemental report in a few weeks after the progress has been displayed in the cowpots and subsequently in the garden plot. THANK YOU VERY MUCH.
