this is quite adorable and my grandson will enjoy it for many years - enough to hand it down to further generations. others have commented on the small spaces for the animals - true in many cases, but I know my son can figure out a way to make retrieval a bit easier, so I don't see that as much of a downside.

This is such a cute item and I was so excited to order it, especially after reading all the good reviews. Upon receiving it, I was disappointed as I opened the animals. Several of them were not painted very well. The ark also has discoloring all over it, possibly from the glue. The first day we had it, my son, who is over 3, dropped one of the animals and the ear broke off. 2 days later, my older son was sitting at the table playing with the animals and dropped one and the beak broke off. They were not playing roughly with them at all. This will not last long enough to be an heirloom unless your children do not touch it at all and you do not drop any pieces. I was considering keeping it after the 1st animal broke because it is so cute, but after the 2nd animal broke, I don't think it's worth it. I'm really disppointed to have to return it.

This item is unique and my grandchildren will love coming to do the Christmas countdown with it - taking out the animals and lining them up on the ark. There is enough room to put in another surprise in each box if you choose. It is different from other Christmas countdown items and will be a real conversation piece.
