Had been researching composters for quite a while. With an expansion of our graden this year decided to take the plunge. Living in NE was drawn to this product due to the remarkably quick production of compost. Have placed the unit in my cellar by request of my wife, but have been surprised at how quite it is unless it's running the mixing arm or dropping the compost into the bin below. It seems to be dumping without me initiating the process, but so far have only had to take a small amount of uncomposted material and place it back up into the main chamber. So far have been very happy with the purchase.

Not as simple as it seems

This product is not as simple to use as the videos and descriptions imply. After using this for several weeks I am still making sludge, not compost. After a few days it did quiet down quite a bit and when closed is not smelly.

I can get a batch of compost in less than a week even in the winter. I have 6 compost bins outside but they are out of commission when it's cold! I'm going to get rid of my worm bin now. This is so much easier and faster. I love this thing and if it breaks, I will buy another one. Pretty pricey though. I was able to buy it by making payments. Thanks for making that available for your high cost items you carry.

        Really works!

        • Fast
        • Works On Meat And Dairy

        Cons

        • A bit stinky
        • Expensive

        Best Uses

        • Kitchen scraps

This composter really works. It is amazing how fast it turns scraps into lovely compost. Big benefit is that it not only composts veggie scraps but works on meat and dairy as well. It requires sawdust pellets and comes with a starter box. You can buy more pellets at a lumber yard which are quite inexpensive and all natural. There is a bit of a learning curve to get the process going, but once you do it works just fine.

Only two complaints though. It is stinky but only when you open the lid to add in scraps. When the lid is closed there is absolutely no smell at all. It is quite expensive as well. It does make a little bit of noise, especially when churning the compost but not enough to complain about.

I bought this composter for all my kitchen scraps. I have an outdoor compost pile for the summer (3-4 months), but I live above 10,000 feet in elevation and the winters are too long and too cold for the rest of the year.
