This marking pen is a great companion for any zinc-plated or steel plant marker. The fiber tip is better than the felt tip found on other markers because it won't "mush-up" with use.

Fine point great for using on small spaces. Seems to be holding up with all the rain we've had so far.
I did encounter a smearing problem when applying ink to the stake at first not sure if it was the pen or the plate. Corrected when I laid stake flat on the table.

The only thing wrong is the broad tip.I found a fine tip garden marking pen with a fine point, that works great. [@] Give it a try, it worked for me.
