I used this on my plant markers I also purchased, it worked great no smudging and has held up through are weather changes here in Wisconsin so far with no fading or washing off from the rain/snow.

As stated in the heading, these bleed like crazy when used on the wooden plant markers sold here. So, don't purchase if that's what you intend to write on with this pen. Sharpie markers also bleed on wood, but much less so than this pen does.

Two things: First of all, I read all of the comments before I purchased this item. What I discovered is that if I followed the directions carefully, this marker was very effective. But I had to shake, and then press the point down until the ink began to flow. If I stopped writing for more than a few minutes, I had to repeat.
Second, we recently had over 10" of rain in less than 2 weeks. None of the markers I used this on "ran". (I purchased the aluminum plant labels at the same time.) Now our heat index has been between 100 and 110 degrees and I haven't noticed any fading. We rarely have ice or snow so I can't say how the ink/paint will fare in that weather, but here in SE Texas it works great.

I've been using this brand of gardening marker for years and it is hands-down the best permanent marker out there. Long after Sharpie's have faded away, this marker withstands a lot of abuse and time in the sun. If you want to still be able to read what you planted months later, this is the tool for the job.
