- VIDEO: How the Pop-Up Covers Work
- Safe and effective barrier excludes many types of pests, including insects, birds and animals
- Reduces the need for pesticide sprays
- Quick and simple to install
Self-supporting mesh enclosure keeps out insects, birds and animal pests like rabbits — even dogs and cats — while letting in light and rain. Fine mesh allows good air circulation while shielding plants from harsh, drying winds. Pop-Ups install in minutes and fit snugly over 4' x 4' or 4' x 8' raised beds; they can also be used over Grow Beds and in-ground plants. Built-in corner loops and anchoring stakes (included) let you secure Pop-Ups into the ground. Use Low Pop-Ups (20" H) for low-growing crops like greens, beets, carrots and strawberries. Covers fold flat for easy storage.

Comments about Pest Control Pop-Up Covers:
The good - it keeps bugs out - it seems to keep the soil more moist. It is light and relatively easy to use (it is large, so you have to flop it around into place).
The bad - It is a little hard to water if you don't have your drip set up. My husband came up with the idea of propping it on his head while he watered the plants under it (we have 2foot high beds... might be hard with 1 foot high)
Pros
- Easy To Use
- Extended Garden Season
- Large Coverage Area
- Portable
- Reduces Number Of Pests
Cons
- Can't Fold Up After Use
- No Zipper Openings
Best Uses
- Great For Short Plants
Comments about Pest Control Pop-Up Covers:
I use these to cover raised beds growing salad greens, spinach, onions, garlic, Swiss Chard, herbs, and peas. They are lightweight but low enough that wind does not pick them up easily. Has enough loops for stakes to keep secure to the ground. In light rain or watering, they will collapse down onto the plants, but bounce back once the rain stops, generally. I dislike having to remove the stakes each time I need to get into the bed to harvest, weed, fertilize or whatever. A zippered opening on the top might be a nice addition. I used these all winter long with a plastic tarp on top, and only lost a few plants which were crushed by the weight of snow (for several weeks) when the pop-up collapsed (not unexpectedly). They have been wonderful at keeping my chickens out of the beds, and have not seen any insect problems either.
Pros
- Reduces Number Of Pests

Comments about Pest Control Pop-Up Covers:
I really like that this pop up cover is easy to unfold - it is the folding up that is difficult. I got the 4x8 version, so that may have added to the difficulty in trying to get the cover back into it's case. It reminds me of the sun shields you can buy for your car window - convenient but a little bit of a pain to collapse.

Comments about Pest Control Pop-Up Covers:
I purchased the pest-control pop up covers as a low-cost alternative to plastic and wire hoop row covers. The best benefit of this product is the price and it's portability. I am fortunate that my raised beds are built in 4' by 4' sections, so one of these sits perfectly on top of my raised bed. The biggest downside to the pop up cover is that while the sides are supported by flexible wire, there is no support in the middle. So, in the event of leaf fall or early snow, the middle will potentially collapse onto the plants. However, this can be solved by placing an appropriately sized stake or stick in the middle of the bed. The "tent" effect will allow leaves to slide right off.

Comments about Pest Control Pop-Up Covers:
I used popups through the whole season this year, after putting seeds (not transplants) directly in my raised beds. I kept the popups on fulltime, except to harvest or hand water. I did not secure them and they stayed put in high winds. My vegetables were PERFECT, germination rates excellent, and - NO birds, no squirrels, no bugs, no critters - absolutely untouched. I'm buying my 6th popup now. I cannot recommend highly enough. If you want your veggies and fruit for YOU, with perfect looking leaves, this is the product. How to store: throw on ground, push it all down flat, secure the edges with large office style paper clips/holders, and store flat in garage against the wall, behind a bike or lawn equipment. It won't go into a small round shape but will flatten completely and store easily.

Comments about Pest Control Pop-Up Covers:
My fall garden is off to a great start under these pop-up covers. No rabbits, chickens, cats, opossums or raccoons have been able to get in and dig up my seedlings. When watering, they do collapse down, but bounce back up as soon as the watering stops. Will cover these with plastic sheeting when temps get colder for additional protection.
