disappointed--have not yet attracted hummingbirds to the feeder, even though they are in my yard on my sage plants. I clean and change it every 2 days. Don't know if the problem is with the nectar or the feeder itself.

Comments about Hummingbird Nectar:
I had bought this a while back and believed what they said about the red dye being harmful to the birds just to find out later with some research that in fact... There has been no real study on it and there is no proof to say it is or isn't harmful... Now I don't buy either and make my own.. It is a ton cheaper and I know what my lil ones are getting!...

Comments about Hummingbird Nectar:
I thought you might enjoy some further confirmation about your product of the Clear Instant Hummingbird Nectar...Sometime in 2006, I found a Hummingbird Feeder of a water can dripping food into a feeder so that the circular base with various red petals being the feeder holes. So over the winter months, I was clicking around the Internet in springtime anticipation and searched for a recipe for food for the Hummingbird Feeder. I did indeed locate what looked like an easy recipe although it required boiling. At the same time of year, as my plans continued for spring and summer plantings, I also discovered your website. I was quite interested in your description of the Clear Instant Hummingbird Nectar and placed an order to try it along with several other of your products. I used the Clear Instant Hummingbird Nectar and my original order of one of the item brought two (2) 8 oz. bags for my use. I ordered them at the end of May and so used them beginning in mid-June and I ran out sometime in August. I didn't take the time to place another Internet order since generally our summer doesn't last much beyond Labor Day and instead visited the local hardware store that I knew also sold Hummingbird Nectar. I read each box quite carefully and selected one for purchase (in what I hoped was just enough to finish our summer) and prepared it for our little visitors. Well, I was not pleased when the nectar turned red during preparation because it had not said a word on the box whether it was clear or would turn a color. But since it was prepared, I carefully filled the cleaned feeder and put it outside. Our previous guests would not touch it. Not one visit are we aware...and yet we've seen other Hummingbird Feeders throughout our community and we've seen that they only use red colored food. So, let me say that our little guests are assured that I place an order each summer in a larger quantity to last the entire season for their discriminating tastes. :)

Comments about Hummingbird Nectar:
My one disappointment in many purchases from Gardeners Supply, I assumed this would be something more than just plain sugar, but it isn't. Skip this purchase and mix the sugar already on your counter 1:4 with water by weight. Spend your money on something else. I'm suprised that the incredible gardeners that run this site continue to offer this product.
Comments about Hummingbird Nectar:
This is plain sugar - it even says so on the box. I suggest you buy a 10 lb bag of sugar with the money it costs for this product. It works just as well.

Comments about Hummingbird Nectar:
We usually make our own hummingbird food but this certainly makes it easy and convenient, and they absolutely love it.
