Exclusive | Cut Your Watering Chores by 80%
- Handy mats let you water potted plants less frequently
- Fabric contains polymer crystals that absorb water, then release it slowly to plants as they need it
- Mats can be trimmed to fit your container or hanging basket
- Choose pre-cut mats or a 15' roll
When we first tested these water-absorbing mats, the results seemed too good to be true. So we asked some of our customers to try them, and they gave Hydro-Mats rave reviews! Each individual mat holds a full quart of water, wicking it up almost instantly and then releasing it slowly, so you water weekly instead of daily. Choice of a set of eight 7" x 7" mats or a 15' L x 21-3/4" W roll.

I buy these EVERY spring. They are so helpfulin conserving water while helping maintain plant hydration - especially in planters and hanging baskets that dry out easily.
I often recommend this product to others.

Comments about Hydro-Mats:
I bought these mainly for a liner in my planters so when I would water the runoff would not stain my patio and porches. These are keeping my patio and porches clean and no more dirt stains, plus they are keeping my plant hydrated!! Just love them.

Comments about Hydro-Mats:
This is the second set of the water mats I've purchased. The first lasted several years, so I'm looking forward to many more with this set. They really do help in our dry high-desert environment.

Comments about Hydro-Mats:
This product does not work as advertised. It disintegrated into a blob of potassium polymer after a single heavy rainfall. Even if you don't care to read the rest of my review, I advise you to please pass this product over in favor of Gardener's "Terra Sorb" or some other water-conserving product. These mats don't work.
I would not have discovered this (at least not until the end of the season) had I not decided to re-pot a planter I had just planted. I had prepared the planters last weekend according to the instructions on the package; however the directions specify that you put the "fuzzy" side up; the mats have a smooth side and a rough side; neither seemed fuzzy to me, so I put one smooth side up and one rough side up. As it turned out it didn't matter.
A week later, I decided I wanted to put two of Gardener's self-watering conversion kits in the planters, so I emptied out the soil (luckily I hadn't planted yet) and made the discovery. The polymer crystals had expanded in the previous day's heavy rain, had broken out of the mat, and had risen about a third of the way up the soil in the planter in a big, gelatinous blob. The mat fabric was stuck to the bottom of the planter. There is no way roots would "grow into the RainMat and take water as the plants need it" as the package indicates.
Sucker that I am, I bought two packages of RainMats, most of which are now at the bottom of planters not doing what they're advertised to do.

Works great for my potted plants that hang on the porch railings. I don't need to water every day, even in the summer!
