Organic Seed Potatoes

Feast on Delicious Home-Grown Gourmet Potatoes

All kinds of gardeners are trying their hand at growing their own potatoes, and for very good reasons. Homegrown potatoes are delicious and there’s a variety for every purpose: roasting, frying or salad making.

Yukon Gold is a yellow-fleshed potato renowned for its outstanding flavor and texture. It’s very versatile — enjoy it baked, boiled, mashed or fried. Early season (70-90 days to maturity).

All-Blue is a delightful novelty with stunning, deep blue skin and flesh. Great flavor and and moist texture, for baking, boiling and colorful salads. Late season (110-135 days to maturity).

Russian Banana is an heirloom fingerling variety with yellow flesh and exquisite flavor. Late season (105-135 days to maturity).

Elba potatoes are a great beginners’ variety with outstanding resistance to disease and drought and firm, flavorful white flesh. Early season (70-90 days to maturity).

Butte is a russet variety — the classic for fluffy baked potatoes. Also ideal for boiling and for making French fries, it's high in vitamin C and protein, too. Late season (110-135 days to maturity).

Rose Gold is a very attractive and rich-tasting variety with red skin and yellow flesh. It's delicious baked and steamed and is especially good in creamy soups. Mid season (90-110 days to maturity).

        Comments about Organic Seed Potatoes:

I watered, fertilized and cared for these plants watching them grow to over three feet tall and completely filling the potato bag they were planted in. Imagine my surprise when my "yield" was 8 potatoes no bigger than a ping pong ball. NOT WORTH IT.

        Purple Mashed Potatoes

        Comments about Organic Seed Potatoes:

Split one pound of All Blues with my sister. The 7 oz that I planted (in a Potato Grow Bag) generated almost 8-1/2 lbs of potatoes. My sister hasn't harvested hers yet.

          Comments about Organic Seed Potatoes:

I planted these as soon as I got them and I was very disappointed to see that out of at least 10 potatoes I only have 4 plants. There have been no pests, plenty of water and fertilizer but very few results :(

                Comments about Organic Seed Potatoes:

I've been raising a large organic garden for years, but this is my first time trying potatoes. The instructions were simple, as well as detailed instructions on the website. I have been disappointed by a 50% germination rate. Still looking forward to my first ever harvest, though!!

This is the first year for ordering potatoes and wondered if they were worth the expense but my crop of potatoes in the grow bag are doing better than the traditional ones my husband always plants in his garden. We now have a contest going on the one who has the best crop.

We purchased the Yukon Gold and the All Blue potatoes for our section of "potatoe field" and we could not be happier. Thank you Gardener Supply. In fact everything that we have ever purchased from you has always been of the best quality.

                                Comments about Organic Seed Potatoes:

The packaging was very nice and step-by-step instructions were very helpful. The only problem is that the varieties I received were not the same varieties advertised. The web site lists 5 types (Yukon Gold, All Blue, Russian Banana, Elba and Cranberry Red). The varieties I received were Butte, Carola, Red Cloud, All Blue, and All Red. Not a big problem, but there is no information listed in the package about these varieties (like the details on the web site about the other listed varieties). Not a big problem, but not quite what I thought I was buying.

The different types are all mixed together, so I'm not sure which kinds are which. My goal in buying the variety pack was to see what would grow well here- now I'm just flying blind. I would have ordered individual varieties if I knew the variety pack would be all mixed together.
