I keep the hedgehogs on my covered patio right beside the back door where they are protected from the elements. However, when we had a blowing rain last week, I did bring them inside. I did not use a protectorant on them because they should be fine where I keep them normally. But if I had them anywhere in the open, I would definitely apply a protective coating on them. I always take anyone who comes to my house out to see them as I think they are so cute. I am very glad that I made this purchase!
