This was purchased as a gift; I would have returned it, but they wished to keep it. It is constructed of unglazed pottery, which drops orange flakes all over the place. The bird comes detached with a spike sticking out the bottom. It is mounted by placing the spike into a (too small) hole on the rim of the bowl. It took some patience to reem the hole out enough to function without breaking the bowl. Better luck on my next purchase.
