Grub Guard Controls Your Garden's Worst Enemy

  • Contains naturally occurring, beneficial microorganisms that help control Japanese beetles
  • Attacks the soil-dwelling, grub stage of the beetle
  • Starts working within 48 hours, keeps working all summer long
  • Sprayer not included; we recommend our Hose-End Sprayer

Japanese beetles are one of the most destructive garden pests. As adults, they ravage your flowers and vegetables. As young grubs they devour your lawn's root system, and they attract skunks and moles. Grub Guard beneficial nematodes are naturally occurring microorganisms that live in the soil, feeding on Japanese beetle grubs. Unlike chemical controls, they won't harm earthworms or most beneficial insects, and they are safe around pets.

  • Contains two species of beneficial nematodes: Steinernema carpocapsae and Heterorhabditis bacteriophora
  • Sponge is 2-1/2" x 6"
  • 1 million size will treat 2,000 square feet
  • 6 million will treat 12,000 square feet
  • Also controls Colorado potato beetle grubs, cutworms, root weevils, flea larvae and other soil-dwelling insects

    Comments about Grub Guard:

When buying something that can only be seen with a microsope, you have to take a leap of faith to go ahead. This is the second year I have bought the nematodes, and while I can't see them, I no longer see the grubs when I turn over the soil. I feel good buying something that is good for the soil and helps me eliminate pests.

    Comments about Grub Guard:

I had to keep the nemos in the refrigerator for at least a week before application. I saw no movement in the water after following the directions so my son took a sample and put it under his microscaope and GEEZ...they WERE ALIVE. So the product itself came as expected...whether or not it will actually work may never be determined.

      Reduced rhododendron weevil damage

        Comments about Grub Guard:

We applied these beneficial nematodes to our rhodendron beds last autumn, and the following spring and summer the unsightly leaf notching damage from black vine weevil was greatly reduced, I'd say at least by 80%. So far it's been the most effective control of these pests, including some non-organic agents we've tried. Bought it again for this fall. Just be sure to follow the application directions carefully and do your homework about the best time of year to apply it for the specific pest you are targeting.

The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is that the shipping package really needs a larger cold pack. It arrives too warm especially if left on a sunny porch.

        Comments about Grub Guard:

I got these because I heard that they eat flea larvae. Fleas have been a really bad problem this year, and I'm hoping to stop the life cycle. My only problem was that I ordered this and the hose end sprayer to water them in to the yard at the same time, the nematodes came immediately...the sprayer? A week and a half later. Stored them in the fridge, not sure how to tell if they are effective. Dogs still have fleas lol.

As I mentioned in ordering an emergency batch I needed as I missed an area the first time, I have used Gardens Alive grub stuff and it's like the grubs feasted on the stuff. This one you deal is EXCELLENT in maintaining the buggers. Will be ordering another batch for the Fall.

          Comments about Grub Guard:

I'm not sure if this product was very effective. The lawn still has grub problems. The product arrived in a box with a warm, completely melted freezer pack. I'm not sure how many actually survived, so its hard to judge the effectiveness. I think they need a better/faster shipping method.

                  Comments about Grub Guard:

Have bought nematodes from other sources that did not package them as well as these were.
They were sandwiched in a styrofoam container with a freeze pack-very effective at keeping them alive during transit.
Also the nematodes are contained in a moist sponge like material, also a great way to keep them alive.
The instructions were very clear: keep them cool before squeezing out the sponge into a water filled sprayer and then use immeadiatly and water them in.Simple.
