Japanese beetles are one of the most destructive garden pests. As adults, they ravage your flowers and vegetables. As young grubs they devour your lawn's root system, and they attract skunks and moles. Grub Guard beneficial nematodes are naturally occurring microorganisms that live in the soil, feeding on Japanese beetle grubs. Unlike chemical controls, they won't harm earthworms or most beneficial insects, and they are safe around pets.
- Contains two species of beneficial nematodes: Steinernema carpocapsae and Heterorhabditis bacteriophora
- Sponge is 2-1/2" x 6"
- 1 million size will treat 2,000 square feet
- 6 million will treat 12,000 square feet
- Also controls Colorado potato beetle grubs, cutworms, root weevils, flea larvae and other soil-dwelling insects

Comments about Grub Guard:
I dug up an area I had sprayed and had been infested with grubs this morning and didn't see any. The product was easy to use once I made a phone call to Garden Supply to find out what setting to use with my Ortho sprayer. The product was easy to mix and apply.
I'll definitely use it in my other gardens if I see grubs in them

Comments about Grub Guard:
I am waiting to see if the grubs I found in my yard last winter are gone. I sprayed this product, following the instructions to the letter, about a month ago. I will increase the stars to 5 if it really killed the grubs. It is safe for pets, which was crucial for me. I did not realize that I needed to be prepared to act immediately upon receiving my nematodes to keep them alive. The directions were a little complicated and confusing and you have to do it at dusk, when the temperature is not too hot or cold. You really have to rinse out the sponge they are on to get them all out.

Comments about Grub Guard:
I really wish I could rate this. I know the description indicates that there are live micro-organisms, but this did not register to me that it meant I would have to use it within a short time period after arrival or I never would have ordered it when I did. It arrived in mid April and in MN we often still have at least partially frozen soil at that time (and THIS year we had snow until two weeks ago). My husband received the order and set it aside. when it was time for us to use it, about 3 weeks after receiving, I looked at the box and saw the word "living". My heart sank. I'm just glad I didn't order the larger supply! :-(
Will try again, next year.

Comments about Grub Guard:
When buying something that can only be seen with a microsope, you have to take a leap of faith to go ahead. This is the second year I have bought the nematodes, and while I can't see them, I no longer see the grubs when I turn over the soil. I feel good buying something that is good for the soil and helps me eliminate pests.

Comments about Grub Guard:
I had to keep the nemos in the refrigerator for at least a week before application. I saw no movement in the water after following the directions so my son took a sample and put it under his microscaope and GEEZ...they WERE ALIVE. So the product itself came as expected...whether or not it will actually work may never be determined.

Comments about Grub Guard:
We applied these beneficial nematodes to our rhodendron beds last autumn, and the following spring and summer the unsightly leaf notching damage from black vine weevil was greatly reduced, I'd say at least by 80%. So far it's been the most effective control of these pests, including some non-organic agents we've tried. Bought it again for this fall. Just be sure to follow the application directions carefully and do your homework about the best time of year to apply it for the specific pest you are targeting.
The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is that the shipping package really needs a larger cold pack. It arrives too warm especially if left on a sunny porch.
